Our pipes backed up this weekend, so aside from cleaning up dirty shower water and sewage, we're likely looking at a pretty expensive pipe repair. Fun!
I get annoyed with other boards that push temping as you absolutely have to do it, and if you don't, you're an idiot. Just like our bodies are different, everyone is entitled to going about getting PG in the best way for them. At this point, it's just not for me!
@als1982 I totally get where you are coming from! I wish i wasn't temping to TTC but I don't want to go back on the pills ever so I want to TTA after baby with temping. So I had to learn. I wish TTC could have been more relaxed but I deff don't want to waste any time since we've waited 3 years. If I get crazy though I may scale back to using opks and thats it.
I'm going to jump in and participate even though I have no clue where I am in my cycle - got Mirena out on 9/4 and we're winging it. Once AF shows up I'll have a better idea what's going on.
Month/Cycle: 1
CD/DPO: No clue! Waiting for AF
TTC or TTA: TTC but taking very laid back approach
Rant/Rave/Chart Stalk: I hate not knowing where I am in my cycle but I will get too obsessed if I start temping. I have anxiety issues so I'm recognizing if I start to temp, I will probably go overboard with it.
GTKY: Biggest TTC/TTA pet peeve? What @als1982 said
@MrsRo731 I'm with you on the temping/charting. I don't want to start out doing it when I'm TTC since I have concerns about 1) taking it overboard 2) becoming obsessed 3) scaring DH (he'll prefer to just try organically at first).
Also, sometimes I have to be careful to not try to control every little thing. Even with exercise, I have to remind myself not to take it too seriously since it's supposed to be good for my mind and body. Stress relieving not stress inducing.
If I get to a point where I need to temp, I will certainly be open to that! And would definitely want advice from the ladies on TTGP:).
Rant/Rave/Chart Stalk: Got my first solid cross hairs and I am so excited! Last month was anovulatory and it began looking like this one was going to be that way if my temps didn't rise which was making me nervous! I'm just happy to know my body is functioning properly
GTKY: Biggest TTC/TTA pet peeve?
Feeling like pregnant people are everywhere! I swear I never noticed it until I started having baby fever now it's like all of my social media is full of pregnant people! Which I am super happy for them, but it just increases my fever
@AshPat0525 tell me about it. I have a baby shower this Saturday... Hang in there! It'll be our turn soon enough!
@gabpepsi I understand your reasoning completely. I will note though that DH is way more interested and involved because of the chart. DH is really into all the rules and science. DH was asking me about my temps and when I ovulated and he likes looking at the opks.. I was surprised. I was talking to a gf of mine and she said she thinks she might be pregnant( they are TTC) because her temps went up again.. I was telling DH and he got all excited and says well did she tell her SO. I was like IDK. He kept saying he would be pissed if I withheld that news. I was like who knew you would want to know something like that considering it could mean nothing. I have grown to feel like we are going through it together and without the charting I wouldn't have felt that way.
I'm still on BCP and I started temping last week just to get used to it since I will be going off BCP next month and will be using temping while TTA. My DH thinks I'm funny for getting so prepared but he also understands my concerns for what will happen when I stop BCP since I've been on it for about 8 years and prior to it I never had a regular period. I went from getting my period randomly every few weeks, to bleeding every single day for 4 months straight, and then being on BCP and rarely getting a period (I haven't had one in 16 months).
I'm an engineer so I'm not sure if I enjoy it because I will be able to understand my body a little bit better or just because I enjoy data collection and analysis
@mokay19 I wonder what your chart would look like while on bcps( since you don't actually have a cycle on them). My guess is that your temps would stay in the same rang because your hormones would stay level.
@Katm89 That's what I'm thinking, too.. so far they have almost all been between 97.4 - 9.7... which I also wonder if those are higher than what I will get once off BCP. I'm on progestin only birth control because of migraines so I would think that would keep my temperatures up... we'll see!
@mokay19 Those are the ranges my temps fall in between once I've ovulated, but I've seriously seen such a huge range of temps that people get! Mine are never in the 98's unless I've drank the night before. It's so crazy how different everybody is! But also awesome once you start learning how your body is functioning I've had a lot of fun charting lol
@als1982 I love temping. I do it because I do not want to wait any longer than I have to to become pregnant. I want this to happen as soon as possible. I want to make sure that I am giving myself the best shot each month. Also my DH does get involved near my FW. He ask when the sex really matters for the baby making and likes to know my temps. But only during my FW. Any other time he really doesn't care and I don't blame him. I'm not trying to push anything on you or anyone else, but temping is so less stressful for me while TTGP.

@raesmith9 agreed! I feel very in the know about my body and it makes me feel more empowered than stressed! And whenever I get down about wanting to be pregnant NOW I try to bring myself back to the now and think about how much fun it is with just DH and I and how that will change forever once we are pregnant! Love the positivity But ya the people saying relax and it will happen - ANNOYING!
Love reading this and everyone participating. So much love and luck to y'all. I want to temp, but my wake up schedule sucks. I wake up and don't think twice. I get up, run to start the shower, get myself half ready, then the kid ready, and I finish. I'll get there. I mostly want to see what my body is doing.
I agree with @gabpepsi and @MrsRo731.. temping doesn't help the obsession. I'm definitely an obsessive person and love to research so I do love all this data. I'm glad I can go back and see how my previous months were and since I have a constant fear that I will have problems getting pregnant, I like that I have all of this data to share with my doctor or RE if that is ever a problem. Buuuut yeah, it's a bit much. I think it can overcomplicate the whole TTC process. When I've mentioned it to select people in RL they're like "you're doing what every morning? Why?"
Not in the TWW myself but hope you ladies will have me anyways! I've never done one of these and would love to try it out... ok here it goes!
Month/Cycle: 3/3
CD/DPO: CD9/not past O
TTC or TTA: TTC
Rant/Rave/Chart Stalk: I don't think I understand CM. First of all it grosses me out. But I made a resolution to actually track it this month for the first time. I started tracking it and despite the fact that I O'd on CD18 the past two cycles, I put in a W for CM and all of a sudden FF was like YOU'RE SUPER FERTILE! Even though my period just ended, I have no positive opks and my temp hasn't spiked since then. So I think it was just a fluke.
GTKY: Biggest TTC/TTA pet peeve? DH travels for work once a month and of course in our first month of TTC he's away during my fertile window.
@HookEmNelson Monday Wednesday and Friday I do not have to wake up till 6, Thursday 7 and Tuesday and the weekend I can sleep in. I set my alarm for 5 to temp and then I just go right back to sleep. It was early enough when my then 12 week puppy would not wake and even on the weekends I know that I would get a solid three hours of sleep to get a good temp. Many ladies in the TTGP board temp between 3 and 5 am.

@raesmith9 and @hookemnelson I'm a 5:30 AM temp-er. It's half an hour earlier than I get up. I fall right back asleep for 30 minutes. But I did have SO much trouble in August finding a time. I kept moving it up and it wasn't early enough. I basically need to just throw my August cycle away unfortunately. That transition from summer to teacher was rough.
Rant/Rave/Chart Stalk: I hate how late I O'd this cycle and how my temps slowly climb instead of shoot up.

Wow. That's crazy!! There is no way I could set my alarm at 3 or even 5 a.m. and be able to go back to sleep!
I think once I do get serious with the temping, I'll just have to make a conscience effort when my first alarm goes off (I have a couple and love the snooze), and hope that it turns into a habit.
Hello! Just got my nexplanon out Sept. 3rd, so I'm new to the charting game! But excited to get into it. (:

TTC or TTA: NTNP/casual TTC
Rant/Rave/Chart Stalk: I work night shifts and try and "switch" back to being awake during the day when I'm off. It's given me a few wacky temps already, so I'm not sure how helpful temping will be for me…but it could just be my body coming off of BC. We'll see!
GTKY: Biggest TTC/TTA pet peeve? Does anyone else have to fight the urge to just tell the whole world you're trying? I'm a L&D nurse and many patients ask me if I have any kids and I have to hold back my baby fever haha (especially being around so many babies!). I just smile and say "no not yet!" (:
@kgm92 I want to tell everyone. I have told a bunch of people just not family. I have waited 3 years so I tell my parents how much I want them but they have heard me say it so many times that would never guess that in exactly two month we will try!
@kgm92 and @Katm89 ... I want to tell everyone so badly that it drove me to The Bump! I have told a few close friends, my mom and brother (and husband, obvi) but it's very hard not to make it my primary conversation with every person.
So I came to The Bump so I can vent out all my warm and fuzzy TTC feelings ... and am so happy to have met all of you here!
@gabpepsi haha agreed! The Bump is my safe place to talk talk talk about TTC it's so hard not to talk about it! I've tried with my friends a little bit but their eyes glaze over because none of them are even close to considering babies lol so it's super nice to have this outlet!
Omg guys, I have a vent. So I know I O'd on CD20... but it was in the evening ( don't ask.. long story). then on CD23 we have unprotected sex because it was a dry day and 3rd high temp. When I shared my chart on the Kindara community alot of people corrected me and said if you have fertile fluid in your 3 days following O ... you need to recount 3 temps before you have have sex... Do you think I even have a chance of getting pregnant. I mean it was 48 hours past O. The egg can't live that long can it? Ugh I would hate to get excited and then be disappointed

The only thing I would think would be possible is if your cross hairs changed because I know the further you get into your cycle (at least on FF) it can move your cross hairs to another day depending on what you report as far as CM and such. But I would say if you had 3 high temps after what you believe was O then I would not think it would be possible. Eggs typically live 12 hours, no longer than 24 hours.

Checking CM, although an indicator, isn't anything you'd make a solid determination on pertaining to fertile timeframes or ovulation. I found this link from FF that may help explain EWCM after ovulation:
Hi, everyone! My first post here on The Bump. Glad to meet you all!
Month/Cycle: 4 (with one chemical pregnancy in month 2)
CD/DPO: 19/ 5DPO (the TWW for me **sigh**)
TTC or TTA: Been trying since May, just got married last month. Trying not to get anxious but since I am 36, I can't help but wonder how long it will take. My younger sister got pregnant the first month off of the birth control pill, so I am struggling with not comparing myself to others around me. Luckily, I am married to one of the most supportive, chill, amazing men in the world.
Rant/Rave/Chart Stalk: I thought I'd try to do things organically for the first couple of months, but this month I finally gave in and used an OPK, which was super helpful. It made me realize that I was o'ing as normal and at a good time of the month (my cycles are 28-30 days apart, I o'ed on CD13) I was freaking out because my Ovia app was telling me that my luteal phase was 11 days, but without any information on temps or actual ovulation, it was wrong. I couldn't see myself temping, though I've heard it's helpful. I'd get super obsessed and anxious!

Welcome MRMitch! I know its hard not to wish it happened in one month. I know how it will probably take longer... but I can't help but hope that it happens sooner. I'm sorry about your chem pregnancy, that must have been hard.
Rant/Rave/Chart Stalk: I wish I would just o already. My CM has been getting less fertile and when I add temps for sunday and monday it only gives dotted cross hairs. Just need to wait it out I guess or HIO
