American goodies!

American mums living in the UK what do you miss the most baby stuff wise from America?
Or UK mums living in America what do they have over there that we don't here?

I live in the UK and my mum is going to America in 2 weeks. I want to get her to bring me back some only in America goodies. Can anyone think of anything?

    Have you looked at on-line stores like BuyBuy Baby and Babies R Us? They might have things that you may or many not have over there.  I don't know where she is going, but around where I live, we have tons of outlet stores, that have CHEAP baby clothes - like sleepers for $3, and then coupons on top of that for "save $10 when you spend $30" so you can get a bunch of cute stuff at really good prices.  Good luck!!     Depending on where she's going they might have tourist-y onesies, t-shirts, bibs, toys etc with the location name on them. That could be fun.

    I'm an American soon to be mom living in the UK! I just recently went back to the states and shopped quite a bit! We actually bought all our nursery furniture in the states and are having it shipped over here. The furniture is cheaper, better looking, and almost all cribs convert nowadays. Also, upholstered rockers/gliders (not the old nursery gliders, I'm talking the cute trendy ones) IMPOSSIBLE to find in the UK (John Lewis might have one for like £800-1,000. NOPE) The main thing that I've been searching for in the UK and can't find for the life of me are pajamas with a zipper instead of snaps! I've looked everywhere! So I stocked up on fleece pajamas with a zipper because snaps sound like a nightmare to deal with at 2am haha. I've been to Mothercare, Kiddicare, Toys R Us, etc. None of it compares to Buy Buy Baby and Babies R Us. Check out the bedding and bottles and things there. There's just a huge variety at both of those places compared to the stores over here. Also, EVERYTHING is going to be cheaper in the states too!

    Aren't you going to have to pay massive taxes a duties for shipping that stuff from the US?

    You can get Oreos in the UK now, just not as many of the different types. Oreos are amazing though!

    I'm a Brit living in the US, but a ftm so I have no idea what baby stuff is different! I'd suggest cute clothes, they're different everywhere, especially if your family is interested any American sports or other American specific things. Or if you want things that say "Mommy" instead of "Mummy" ;-) 

    And second the PP who said things are generally cheaper and with more variety in the States, definitely a good idea to browse Babies R Us or another site.

    @jb1215 The thing I didn't like about zipper jammies instead of snaps was that the whole thing had to be opened for a diaper change rather than just the necessary area. I didn't want DD getting cold while I was changing her MOTN.

    I don't know how it is in the UK, but I'm an american living in the netherlands and I know that baby clothes (as well as everything else) are ridiculously expensive here compared to the US. I would have her go to Carters and stock up on a bunch of clothes./essentials.

    It'll be much colder in parts of the States come Winter! And in my (biased) opinion, the UK has the best junk food. Good cheap clothes in Tesco/Asda etc too! Though Target is pretty cool.

    Thanks everyone, I will definitely get her to raid babies r us and target etc. I'm pretty sure she will have to bring back a whole extra suitcase as its first grandchild and she's very excited!
    @Scullahoo good shout on the food. Forget the baby I want root beer and lucky charms!!

    :-) root beer is great! especially, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in it.  Do you have the clothing store " america today" in the UK?  We have it here in the Netherlands. They sell A&W rootbeer.

    We should be able to avoid VAT or import duties because we're military. It's going to be a bit of a pain but so worth it in my opinion because the cribs in the UK aren't as cute, are way more expensive, and some don't convert.
