Sunday Spam - how was your weekend?

Another weekend comes to a close. Womp, womp. Anyone do anything exciting?

DH and I decided to go to Cape Cod and take advantage of the last of the beautiful weather. We're in MA so winter will be here all too soon. We got ice cream yesterday and let DS have his first tiny taste. It was pretty much the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life :)

  • @kmalls LOVE the crabby shirt!!! I live in Baltimore so I love everything crab related!
  • Virginia wine festival with my mom yesterday.... I felt like the tag line of a joke: "it's like being a pregnant lady at a wine festival."
    But, was still fun.

My step sister's baby shower today.

So, lots of driving. But, a pleasant weekend overall.

  • My husband and I went camping, which I have mixed feelings about. I try to like camping, and there are some lovely parts to it -- I fell asleep in the pitch dark listening to owls and coyotes, which was pretty spectacular -- but honestly, I just don't love it. I love hiking, but I'd rather come home after and sleep in my own bed!

We brought our dog for the first time which was fun and crazy. She was a menace at the camp site with squirrels everywhere (we had her tied up and she bolted at every squirrel she saw).

The best part was at night, my H played his guitar while my dog and I curled up next to the fire. That was so peaceful and just made me happy! We drank warm apple cider, which was also lovely. Then I woke up in the middle of the night having to pee and had to walk to the bathroom in the cold, probably while being tracked by a pack of coyotes, haha. And the ground to sleep on was soooooo hard :( Like I said, I've got mixed feelings on camping!

  • I felt like I slept all weekend. I hate this feeling.

@Jparke2 when one is by the ocean one MUST wear crabs!
  • Lazy weekend in this house. Slept in both days. Binge watched some Netflix together yesterday and picked up around the house today. DH is cleaning the bathroom now - a plus side to being pregnant since he doesn't want me to breath in any fumes from anything... That and it sounds like he's doing it better than I do anyway. :)

Pizza and salad for dinner tonight with some more Netflix binging until bedtime.
  • @kmalls DS had his first taste of ice cream while we were on the cape this summer too! He loved it so much that he cried hysterically when we took it away, everyone was looking at us like we were torturing him.

@vinerie that's exactly how I feel about camping! I grew up going camping a lot as a kid and there are parts that I love like the hiking and bundling up by the campfire in the evening but I can never get fully on board with the bathroom/shower situation.

My weekend started with a football game with my family yesterday and today I was supposed to see a client but moved them to tomorrow so I could have a relaxing day with DH and DS. It was amazing to just get to hang at home together, and we made beef stew for dinner which was DELICIOUS.

  • Made a huge, life changing decision to change careers and get my BSN (Bachelor's of Science in Nursing). I'm currently a Rhetoric grad student - not even the same thing - but DH and I know that my true passion lies in helping people, and I just don't feel fulfilled teaching college freshman the importance of writing. It's an important thing, for sure, but... it wasn't fulfilling for me.

Also, spent the weekend DDing for DH... I feel like this could become a pattern if I am not careful. :/

  • @FireInWonderland congrats on making that decision -- it's a huge one!! I really hope it makes you happy. And I think you'll need to get used to the DD situation. I gave up arguing about it after about 8 weeks last pregnancy :)
  • Friday night I went to the Fall Harvest Brewfest in my town. Got to taste some delicious beers (before I knew I was pregnant!) and save rescue dogs! Great way to end my (hopefully) 9 months of sobriety... And I went with one of my closest friends! Got to go to a great college football game on Sat. Can't say it was a bad weekend at all.
  • @kmalls we love cape cod too! We were just there for a week in August. We're in upstate ny so about a 5 hour drive.

I had to work at my restaurant job friday and saturday night so nothing too exciting. My mom came up and spent the weekend which was nice. I seriously would let her come up every weekend bc she's such a big help, especially with DD. And I got a rainy day today, so that was a big win.

I really wanted to get away with DH for a weekend this fall but I don't know if that's going to happen... I think reconnecting and spending some time together before we add another one this spring would be nice
  • Nothing much here.  When we moved to this house five years ago the backyard fence was in really  bad shape.  We are finally replacing it.  Hubby does not want to hire anyone to build it for him so he is doing it all himself.  Or rather we are.  My job today was to hand him fence slats.    That is pretty much what we will be doing almost every weekend until it is done.

    PGAL
  • Today was the end of a 10-day vacation that was seriously one of the best ever.

We visited family over Labor Day weekend and then spent the rest of this week at home hanging out and doing whatever we wanted. And I got my BFP on Thursday!

I'm in a huge funk now thinking about having to go back to work tomorrow. :(

Well, we might just be living the same life... We were in Dennis for the weekend, and we got ice cream at The Sundae School House yesterday. We came home this morning to see our nephew's t-ball game and our niece's first cheer (football) game. ETA: Your son is adorable! He looks like he enjoys that cone!

Super Creepy. My inlaws have a vacation house in South Dennis, so we go down a lot. We never bother with Sundae School House because of the insane crowds, but it wasn't bad so we went. We're definitely a Krista K's family- just as tasty, no lines, no waiting ;)

  • @Care6582 Ahhh the old Krista K's/Sundae School rivalry. We're Sundae School through and through. Coconut ice cream to die for.

...and my parents have had a house in South Dennis for 25 years. We go just about every weekend. I'll be side-eying every woman who might be pregnant from now on while we're there ;)

That's so crazy! My inlaws place belonged to my husband's grandparents before they passed away. They built it in the seventies. I'll keep my eyes peeled in Dennis too- is Mayflower Beach by any chance your favorite? I'm seriously freaked out, lol!

  • @care6582 - no, but close! We go to Cold Storage Beach. Same stretch of sand but on the other side of Sesuit Harbor. We had our wedding photos taken on Corporation Beach, though, which is directly next to Mayflower!
  • Yesterday I was feeling decent after a week of nausea and vomiting. Went to a friend's baby shower. Then went to see Lee Brice in concert. Standing the whole time! I think I over exerted myself. Threw up in the middle of the night and projectile vomit several times today. Hoping for some relief tomorrow. But thankful I felt good yesterday.
  • Sunday was my b-day, we went to see The Book of Mormon and had a great meal at one of my fav restaurants in Denver.
I loved it, it was hilarious. Also the restaurant I went to did a great job making me a virgin cocktail drink, so I felt like I was drinking on my b-day :)

  • Lazy Saturday and Sunday, except for that exhausting trip to BJs! Went to my first prenatal yoga class yesterday while DH watched football.
I actually have today and tomorrow off too! DH is a teacher and is off for rosh hashana (sp??) so I took off to extend my weekend. Going shopping today ( I need some clothes to hide this bloat). But all I want to do is sleep.
