Progesterone Side Effect or Pregnancy Symptoms?

I was prescribed vaginal progesterone after my eggs were released. During this time I have experienced some of the side effects I've read about, such as headaches, nausea, and mood swings. They are sporadic and didn't connect it to side effects bc that would be normal for me. But I've had constant slightly sore, sensitive nipples during my 2ww. I noticed earlier during this time that my areola enlarged and my nipples would get hard and seemed to slightly swell. Now they are not swelling But I feel them taking off my bra or brushing against something. They are not painful but they are letting me know that they are there lol. I havent had any issues with my breast just my nipples. Is the a side effect or a sign of pregnancy?

Re: Progesterone Side Effect or Pregnancy Symptoms?

  • Ah it is so hard to say ! That's the problem . Every time I'm on progesterone the symptoms are slightly different for me . This time around (when I experienced a chemical pregnancy ) I did notice the same change with my nipples . But I felt that same thing two cycles ago when I wasn't ! The symptoms are almost identical I feel like . I'm really hoping for you they are a good sign !!! :)

It could be a side effect of the progesterone, it is one of the side effects. I guess there is no way to know until you get or don't get a BFP.
Hopefully it's a pregnancy symptom and not a side effect!

  • I've had that exact symptom from progesterone and from being pregnant.  That's why progesterone is so awful!  It makes you feel pregnant and gets you all psyched up.  UGH!  I hope very much that this is a pregnancy symptom!!!  :)

  • After Google and these responses I'm starting to lean more toward the effects of the progesterone. But I am still keeping positive. Thank you ladies. I enjoy reading about everyone's experiences and relating to them.
