I've been on metformin for several weeks, started my period yesterday and am having an unbearable migraine. Not normal at all. Nothing is taking the pain away. Has anyone else experienced this? Any remedies?
I've heard of headache and stomach ache issues until your body gets used to metformin. You also might be experiencing headaches because the meds are actually working, meaning you might be one of the many women out there who gets migraines from the normal hormonal changes due to AF. It couldn't hurt to mention the migraines to your RE.
@mom48040 I looked through my books on metformin and don't see anything about headaches specifically (but my nursing books are not the best). Did the provider tell you to take it with meals? It can cause b12 and folic acid deficiency but your probably handling that with vitamins. I would give them a call for follow up.
