Fibroid issues

I'm 22 weeks pregnant with multiple fibroids, one the size of a tennis ball. About two weeks ago I experienced the worst pain I ever felt in my life in the lower and side abdominal area. Ended up in the ER four different times with them telling me it's just my muscles stretching. The pain was getting worst and worst so I went abck to the ER and this time the doctor was determined to find out what the issue was. Did all these tests for them to tell me that it was due to my fibroids growing, so i was discharged. I developed nausea and vomiting for like four days. I decided that something had to be causing the severe vomiting ,came across something called red degeneration when the blood supply is cut off from the fibroids and they start to break down. I'm almost positive this happened to me. I wanted to share my story and see if anynody else had an experinece like mines.

Re: Fibroid issues

  • Good for you being persistent. Hope it gets better fast. I found it out I had some fibroids I didn't know about.

  • My fibroid pain also landed me in the ER when I was around 18 weeks. I could hardly walk and hadn't slept in 3 days due to pain. I had an MRI to rule our appendicitis. Once they ruled that out, they sent me home with Vicodin (!) to help with the pain. I didn't want to take it so roughed it out and about a week later the pain went away. Now I get sporadic pains here and there but definitely manageable.

I had a fairly large fibroid during my first pregnancy (since had it removed), but didnt experience anything like this. Hope you persist with your doctor about it!

  • Had the same experience at 23 weeks. The pain was so bad I thought my appendix was bursting. Doctor have me anti inflammatory for 48 hours and one week bed rest. So far so good!
  • I have a "very large" fibroid according to my dr. I never actually got the measurement of it though. This same thing happened to me and I was given Norco for the pain. I did end up taking it for 2 days and then stopped bc I really didn't want to continue taking narcotics. The pain lasted 6 days and then went away. I occasionally get some tenderness in that same area every now and then but nothing like before. I was told we will discuss removing it once the baby is born.
