Third Trimester Symptoms/Questions/Rants Thread

So it seems like a lot of us are going through some crazy symptoms these days. I know everyone is miserable, having pelvic pressure, and not sleeping. Trust me I'm on week 36 and I'm beyond exhausted.

So post your questions, concerns, rants, and symptoms here. Maybe by having more people post in one thread some of us will find the answers that we need and won't have to start another thread over it. That way your questions can get answered faster and not get so lost in all of the threads. Let's hear it ladies!

Re: Third Trimester Symptoms/Questions/Rants Thread

  • So many! No sleeping, heartburn every night that wakes me and keeps me up every night from 12:00-2:00 am. Kicks in my ribs and kicks/pokes in my cervix Peeing and then after standing up, feeling like I have to pee again (there's nothing left in me!) Feeling so heavy - pain in my back Swollen ankles -one sometimes slightly bigger than the other Trouble thinking and being effective at work Lots and lots of prenatal appointments (2 x a week fir multiple hours)... And now, weekly pelvic exams/cervical checks...UGH. I could go on and on...

  • @gerbies I'm right there with you. If I manage to sleep 3 hours straight it's a miracle! Is it your left foot or right that's more swollen? Even though it kills my back and hips, if you sleep on your left side that's supposed to help with swelling because you can relieve pressure on your Vena Cava in your right leg. I'm about to start my weekly appointments next week. Heartburn is brutal. Plus LO has dropped so I feel like I need to pee all the time too.  And BH contractions have been a bit rough, especially today.

Hang in there! We're almost done!

  • @intheversa -it's actually my left side with a bit more swelling. Maybe it's because I lie on my left side so much :).

  • @gerbies My left side swells a bit more too. And I tend to go back and forth.  But left is supposed to be better for providing blood and nutrients to the baby as well as to your own blood flow. Not sure why the left side swells more though. Anyone?
  • My left swells more too. Have had a headache for 2 days. Awake now with a heating pad on to help! Lightning crotch when I walk which sucks because there is so much to do! Waking every two hours to pee and yes. I think it's starting to affect my work!

  • Holy Hemmroids!!! They are awful! I had them with my first two pregnancies but not until I delivered! They are already here and hurt worse than anything else I have going on right now!! It's honestly keeping me awake it hurts so bad. Oh and I can't sleep longer than like 1.5 hr stretches. I have to get up to pee like 5 times a night. It doesn't help
Hubby is snoring loudly next to me.
  • I developed PUPPS this week. My doctor put me on prednisone. Anyone else have experience taking that for them?
  • I can relate with the feeling like you need to pee again as soon as you stand up! It's so annoying especially when nothing's left in there!
Aside from the insomnia, my 3rd tri symptoms have been mild compared to last time, but now I've got a nasty cold. I've got 20 days till my c-section is scheduled for but it feels like more.
Plus my finger is sore from having to prick it 4 times a day to check my blood sugar.

  • I've been pretty lucky so far other than sleep. My left hip hurts so bad and it wakes me up. I pee literally every 1.5 hours. I have GD, which I'm a mild case, but still feel like I'm starving. Hubby brought home Eileen's cookies and I wanted to stab him as my sugars were pushing the limit so I couldn't have one. And even when I don't feel like I'm hot I'm still sweaty and gross. And my skin down there is irritated, probably from extra icky moisture. I change liners often and dry well after showers and still have problems. Ugh!
  • @intheversa and @gerbies my left ankle swells more than my right. My doctor said the side of the swelling can do with the way your uterus is tilted/turned and that mine might be to the left. I'm only 34 weeks, so she said she'd check at 36 weeks, but that's what she suspects. Most women's uteruses go towards the right, so a lot of people swell more on that side. Maybe we're the special snowflakes, lol.

Yep. As of just yesterday I'm in the hemorrhoid club, too. What's even more annoying is that last week I ordered a big box of Tucks pads from Amazon as part of my postpartum supplies. They were supposed to be here yesterday, but I just got a notice they are delayed until Wednesday. Of course they are.
  • Ew I was just woken from my nap with acid spewing from my mouth! Never has happened to me before, nasty!
  • Swelling badly here in feet and hands. My hands are like sausages and making a fist hurts terribly. I have a hard time walking so commuting to work this week was torture. Sleep is painful. My body just aches at night but I get a good few hours in a row so can't complain too much.

All in all I know I am pretty lucky but I really miss being able to move around and I find the swelling really uncomfortable and annoying.

  • I am so uncomfortable! My back feels like it's on fire by 5pm. And the last few days I've been getting sick in the morning! Is there such thing as third trimester morning sickness?? Ugh it's miserable! Still 5 weeks to go, I don't know how I'm going to do it!
  • Ugh, when I stand up, my hips hurt so damn bad. And of course I'm feeling the need to nest and can't get up to do it. DH wants to play video games and doesn't understand why I'm trying to "kill" myself to clean the house. I have a glider I can sleep in, we will see how he feels when there aren't any sheets on the bed when he goes to sleep.
  • 36 weeks and I can't cool down even with straight up AC blowing right in me. What's that about! And my feet are so hot most of the time! 4weeks to go and trying to hang in there. Keep it up ladies we are almost done!
  • I feel like the first trimester all over again! Nausea Hunger and Sleep. All I do is eat and sleep I have random spurts of energy.
I'm sleeping 10-12hrs a night & taking a daily nap of about 3 hours. The days I'm still going into work I end up leaving early due to nausea and vomiting.
  • And I forgot about the sweating. I am so hot all the time. I have a fan at my desk at work and turn it on immediately when I arrive. Ugh...it's terrible to be warmer than everyone else!

  • Ugh swelling on my right side, severe pelvic pain when standing up (have to walk super slow and hunch before I can stand straight and the pain subsides enough to walk normally!), kicks and jabs that are awesome yet super painful/uncomfortable at times, and lots of lost sleep for peeing and baby movements/hiccups!
  • Going to be honest... I'm almost 35 weeks and my pregnancy has been just fine for the most part. I was a bit sick my first trimester, but I managed. Ever since April, I've felt fine. I'm not too big, not too swollen, pretty comfortable. UNTIL THURSDAY.

I woke up with the worst pain I've ever had in my chest. Turns out it's my gallbladder acting up. It still aches today. Thankfully it isn't gallstones, just sludge/inflammation, but it feels horrible. It only feels better if I'm laying down. I'm really hoping this clears up by Monday and I go back to work...
  • 33 weeks here with insomnia. Dh and I are sleeping in separate beds now, which helps, as does Benadryl. My feet and hands are also starting to swell a bit, and having to pee all the time is really uncomfortable. I used to love long walks, but I can barely walk a few blocks these days w/o a bathroom break.
  • I've had it very easy the entire pregnancy. I'm 35 weeks and my hands and feet CAN NOT stop sweating!! They literally drip with sweat! I'm hot all the time now and can't sleep or get comfortable in bed. But... I have to remind myself things could be worse!
  • 36.5 weeks getting 3-4 hours sleep a night serious insomnia, back pain period cramps for the last week. Active baby, Can't turn in bed due to awful pelvic pain takes me about 15min to get out of bed to pee :-( nesting like a crazy person.
  • I asked my OB at my last visit about the left leg swelling more and she said its due to the way our arteries and vessels are positioned. Our return vessels to the heart are located on the right side of the body and when the blood is trying to come up your left leg, it then has to cross over to the right side to head up towards the heart. But because of our growing bellies, the vessels get somewhat blocked by baby and can cause pooling back down the left leg. Totally normal and actually pretty common she said, so I haven't worried much since. But obviously keep in mind if you have severe swelling this is a bad sign and should be checked by the Dr. Hope this helps!!
  • I wish I could sweat!! With all the hormone changes I don't sweat at all and just get sooo over heated and feel horrible. I can not be outside in the heat for more than 30 minutes. Thank god it's getting cooler out. I thought there was something wrong but my OB said people handle all the hormone changes different. Oh and the return of constipation that nothing will help :(

Oh, good to know! My swelling isn't too severe, but I notice it takes longer for the left side to go down than the right...

  • I have had a viral cold/cough since July 5. Now my allergies are giving me a lot of trouble and I'm already taking everything that I can. My pelvic /pubic bones hurt so bad that it's even difficult to waddle. My csection is scheduled for the October 14, the day after my birthday, and it can't come soon enough. My house needs cleaned something horrible but I can't move around enough to do the cleaning I want to do. I just want to hold my baby and get my mobility back.
  • @mnmplusthree
I feel your pain! I can totally sympathize, i had them so bad a couple weeks back after a long car trip and spent 5 days in bed crying! Preparation H sucks too. I ordered some moma bottom balm on amazon (Someone on here recommended it) and it helped with the pain! I ordered a sitz bath too and added Epsom salt. Use Vaseline every time you poop (tmi). And you can also ask your doc about prescription lidocaine which helped too! Hope they get better before delivery!
  • Holy Hell Heartburn/indigestion.... Go the F away!! *end rant
  • Nesting wtf? Two other pregnancies and this never happened. Today was supposed to be a relaxing day off to sit and binge watch tlc or something lol. Instead I've spent the entire day slowly cleaning my house. All the floors have been cleaned minus the stairs that's just not happening, both bathrooms, gone through things and gotten rid of clutter. After I make the kids dinner I'm scrubbing the pack and play so it can be set in the sun tomorrow to completely dry
  • I haven't had sciatica pain in forever! All of a sudden today it hit me, I can't even waddle or raise my foot off the floor. Ugh il be 37 weeks tomorrow... This needs to go away! Also I feel like LO's head dropped a bit and now my pubic bone hurts when I get up now. Work should be interesting this week.
  • My list is so long I don't know where to start

The pelvic pain is unbearable...... Especially when I get up every 40 mins to pee, then go back to pee again because my bladder feels full all the time.

Heartburn at night that disturbs my 40 minute sleep intervals.

Nesting in full swing have torn down kitchen walls , I'm due in 2 weeks and still don't have a kitchen , organising builders and electricians etc to get the jobs finished asap.

And finally have GD so not really enjoying the constant needles!

Eurgh ..... trying to keep my eye on the prize but I am so over this !!

Feel better after a rant! :-)
  • I've been feeling mostly amazing few complains here and there till 36 weeks. I feel like I've been hit by a truck. Everything hurts and I'm so exhausted.

I'm taking prednisone now. After about three days, it seems to be helping. You might also use Grandpa's pine tar soap to relieve some of the itch and not further irritate your skin. Smells awful but it doesn't leave a scent once its washed off.

I was never put on that but the one thing that relieved the itching for me was tea tree oil. (I used a shampoo that had it in it as body wash as well, and put a couple drops of the oil in my lotion.) Apply every 2-3 hours and it should be bearable.
  • It's all about the swelling for me. My hands, feet, and face have blown up the past two weeks and I pretty much have no use in my left foot. Both OB and Cardiologist don't seem concerned that I can barely use it. "It's just normal pregnancy swelling. It will go away soon enough." Also my left ankle has now turned hard instead of puffy. I don't want anyone to touch it it's so tender but it seems like the only way to help get the fluid out is massaging it. This last month is really taking its toll.
  • Oh my goodness third trimester has been the hardest on us but were almost there ♡ my emotions are okay very happy and nervous at the same time :). But my symptoms are swollen feets sometimes...ive been very gassy...have acid reflux which makes bubbling in my tummy....im almost to the point when i might get
