Ultrasound picture argument

Has anyone else had people argue with you as to whether you're having a boy or girl? I told a girl I know that we're having a boy and she asked if I was sure. I said ya, the ultrasound tech took atleast 3 different pictures for us that showed the boy parts. She decided to continuously argue saying "well, sometimes they get it wrong.." "were they sure it wasn't a finger or something?" "How sure was the technician?"
Ugh.

Re: Ultrasound picture argument

  • Yes with MIL. I just said "it's definitely a boy as there was no way his bits could be anything else!" And for other people who stupidly comment about technicians getting it wrong I explain it is rare these days but yes did happen a long time ago when ultrasound was new. Shuts them up normally & if they still insist I say - well you can believe he's a girl if you like and we'll see who correct shall we - and I generally giggle and say it with such a tone they feel stupid for suggesting it!

    Good luck x

  • I know boys start putting their hands down there early.. BUT.. I'm sure your tech knows more than your friend does ;) they look at baby privates CONSTANTLY.

Yes. We told MIL this LO is another girl after we had the ultrasound, and she still threw out a boy name and asked us to consider it, "just in case."
Eta my advice is just ignore it. Or when you tell people the sex, add on "-and we couldn't be happier/more excited/thrilled/etc."
  • Ugh!!! Yeeesssssssssss!!! Half my husband's family...PEOPLE!!! We saw a freaking vulva on the ultrasound...it's a girl. Just accept it. Most annoying thing ever. And its the first baby in forever, 1st grand kid on either side for our parents, so I don't know why on earth it matters anyway. His aunts just think they have some sort of intuition about it, so they tell me it can't be a girl, and tell me all those stories about wring ultrasounds.....

    It's so utterly obnoxious.
  • Yes. And they all bring up that one person they supposedly knew who's tech got it wrong.
  • Just get the NIPT blood test and you will know for sure!
  • Oy, this really ticks me off. We're having twin girls and I get super defensive about it - like I tend to think the person is disappointed it's two girls. I also had an amnio done a few weeks ago so it's been absolutely confirmed they're girls, but I'm not about to tell coworkers and acquaintances I had it done because then it opens up the reason why we had it done and someone always asks "what would you do if there WAS something wrong?"

    I really hate everybody...
  • A blood test can confirm however it's super controversial contrary to what people know. I live in Bay Area went to three different doctors and none of them will do the NIPT blood test for me. And I'm 20 weeks. However my girlfriends in AZ both got the NIPT done with two different doctors. So ask yours bc maybe they will do it.
