17 weeks today. & plus size

Good morning ladies! I am at my 17 week mark in my pregnancy. I was always a chunky girl. And I still feel like I don't look prego. I haven't gained much weight du to nausea and vomiting the entire pregnancy. So my question is for the heavy set woman when did you start to show. Or when did your belly harden? I feel like my son isn't growing or something becuz my tummy isn't hard lol. Any one else feeling the same?

  • There is some talk about this on the plus size thread. I'm not all savvy so I don't have the link.

Overall though chances are good you will show later than straight sized women

  • I keep searching so I don't write what someone else has already probably done but I'm not getting anywhere. I haven't found anything that helps with what I asked unless I'm using this app wrong. But thank you for the feedback

I don't know what you mean by this can't be real? Sorry I have my own questions whether they seem bizzare to you or anyone else. I don't want the negativity. So if it doesn't apply to you or you haven't expierenced what I feel please leave the negativity out. Thanks :)

The issue here is the new thread. There are several threads currently going that address this topic. It's hard to keep track of the different threads people want to be involved with if there are so many repeat threads. For future reference a quick search with the search function can more than likely get you answers to your questions faster than reading through responses on a heavily repeated topic.

In general, everyone's pregnancy and body is different. Ultimately your doctor will tell you when/if there is cause to be concerned with your weight gain or how the baby is developing. In a previous thread it was suggested to look at the HDBD thread as this shows various women around the same week and the different way they are developing.

Hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy :)

  • I am chunky and 14. 5 weeks. I haven't gained any weight so far due to nausea. My on wasn't worried at all. She figures that I will catch up. I just try to eat healthy when I can.
  • I am normally a medium size lady and didn't see my bump till 16 weeks and now that I am almost 18 weeks my belly is hard and definanlty showing. However I am having twins which may account for the quick show in the bump. My sisters bump didn't look preggo till she was almost 20 weeks as she was a bit bigger then me.
  • I'm a FTM so everything is a question to me. I'm constantly researching different things that are going on with me during this pregnancy. And I just wanted to know when other mommies started to how or when there tummy got hard. I'm curious just as every one else is. I'm also new to this app so I'm still not sure how things go. I know everyone is different
  • I started a plus size mommies thread a few weeks ago that keeps popping up. I suggest searching for it bc we're having a great discussion. That being said, I'm totally not a thread nazi. I'm between a 24/26 normally and haven't really gained or lost and I'm at 15w 4d. I did notice the other night it was uncomfortable to sleep on my stomach. So even though I can't see or really feel anything hard when standing up, I can feel something hard laying down. I know we'll get there eventually.

How is suggesting she use the search function to join ongoing threads, instead of starting a new thread that could get lost in other repeat threads, being negative? Pointing someone in the right direction and PPs suggestion of reading the New Here information (and The Bump Guidelines) is actually quite helpful. The point is to encourage people to lurk and get a feel for the board and posting/responding prior to starting your own thread. There are Bump Guidelines and New Here threads for a reason. To me it seems like so much time would be saved and so much energy if the search function could be used. Doesn't it make sense to find a CURRENT thread with answers to your question to read instead of posting your own special thread hoping people won't get annoyed that the same question has been answered or is being discussed with lots of answers elsewhere? You're less likely to get answers as a lot of people don't want to repeat themselves or be in multiple conversations with the same question. It takes away the validity of previous threads and great discussions if everyone needs their own for the SAME thing. There is no disrespect to the OP. Just a suggestion for more helpful information for future questions or concerns.
  • IDK how big a girl you are, but my ex sil was 5'3" and 310 pounds. She never looked pregnant. I guess it depends on where you carry your weight.

There is a mandatory waiting period before posting for a reason. TB guidelines state that you should use the search function to find threads where your question has already been asked. If you had done a little snooping around before asking your question, you would have seen that this has already been talked about quite a bit here (about once a day this week, it seems like...), that there is a thread about plus sized ladies already, and also that we have a weekly thread where people take pictures and show off their bumps. Looking through this weeks would've given you a good idea of how many people are showing and what their body types are.

  • Everyone is different.  With my first, I was a 16/18 I didn't show at all (in my opinion).  Yes I wore maternity clothes, and they weren't belly flattering 7 years ago, but I think if someone who didn't know me looked, I just looked fat.  This pregnancy, I was a bigger size to start, but I definately have a bump this time.  Most people say it's because it's my second.  I'm happy to be showing this time, but there are other obstacles that arrise with that also - all of a sudden I'm uncomfortable standing at the sink to do dishes after alittle while and my legs bother me more this time.  I know it's hard not showing, especially where ever you look there's cute little bumps, but keep your chin up and know that you have a support group here.  Your baby will not hinder it's growth because of your body size.  The biggest obstacle your weight gives you, you already over came by getting pregnant.
