Intense pressure on cervix

is anyone else have a lot of pressure in their cervix area? Not pelvic pressure or pain but straight up cervical pain like pressure in your canal. I'm 20 weeks and it's been there for about 2 weeks but got really bad today. No contractions but it's really sore, and worse with activity and workouts. TMI but when I go to the bathroom it's the worst. This is baby 3 and i had this with 1 and 2 but not this intense this early.

Anyone else having this? I'm not so much worried as frustrated. I have my AS Monday so I'll talk to my OB then but wanted to check to see if you ladies are having this.

Re: Intense pressure on cervix

  • Can you tell if baby is sitting low? I've definitely felt pressure (I wouldn't describe it as pain), when I can tell that LO is nestled low.

  • I haven't been having this yet.
With DD, I felt it when she was down really low like @hailees said. I remember the sharp pains from her kicking/head-butting/punching too. Sorry you're dealing with it already - it has been surprising me that some of the symptoms I had last time are happening so much sooner this time around.
  • It's possible that your cervix is just really engorged with blood and that is causing you to feel pressure and pain in the area. I had some cervical pain similar to what you are describing around weeks 16 through 19. It was definitely worse with exercise and straining. There were times when straining caused me to bleed. I found out at an appt that it was because my cervix was engorged with blood and the bleeding was from bursting vessels. My OB said that this can happen and is not harmful to the baby. It was also not indicative of shortening or anything like that, in my case. It's good that you have an appointment Monday and they will certainly check your cervical length at the A/S, so, hopefully that will put your mind at ease. I'm sorry you're dealing with this and I understand the frustration. I hope you get some answers at your appt, and hopefully the discomfort will pass soon.

I'm feeling the exact same thing with baby #2!
For the past week I've also felt her little jabs etc, and unlike with my son, they're right down low in the cervix area it feels like!!! :|
  • Thanks ladies- glad to know I'm
Not the only one! These little ones cause all kinds of crazy feelings!

  • Thought this was just me ftm so everyone told me it probably was just baby pressure. Definitely telling my doctor Tuesday though to ensure everything is well.
  • I've had this and low and behold during my anatomy scan a couple of weeks ago she was using my cervix for a pillow :) should be normal just be sure to mention it at checkups or if it escalates.
  • I'm having it, except it's a pulsing shooting pain, so I'm on bed rest until my appt on Monday. :(
