So I've been starting to think about washing DD clothes. I know everyone always says use dreft. Isn't it just a frag free detergent? I normally use a sensitive skin frag free (something like seventh generation). thoughts?
My mother and I have always used all free clear and I plan on continuing with it. Its pediatrician and dermatologist recommended so I think it'll be fine. Seventh generation is pretty much the same thing so I don't think you'll need to switch.
I think Dreft was preferred for washing cloth diapers b/c it is more of a soap than detergent. I hear it gets the stink out better. Regular free and clear laundry detergent if fine for clothes. If you decide to cloth diaper, you might want to try out a few brands since I know a lot of detergents have popped up in recent years specifically for cloth diapering.
Anything is fine. I went with dreft as the NICU nurses recommended it for when DS was going to wear clothes. It does have a scent to it. I still use it for DS's clothes now because the scent makes me think of when he was my little teeny baby in the NICU. These days I cry while doing his laundry. (

We used to use Dreft but washed our sons clothes separate from ours due to the smell. We only did that for a few months and now buy all free and clear so I can wash everyones clothes together. Cuts down on laundry time.
I started using Dreft because i thought I was supposed to but after getting tired of keeping the laundry separate, I use All Free and Clear for everyone. I did like Dreft's stain remover for when DS had diaper explosions. In terms of removing stains, it worked really well.
Re: how necessary/important to use Dreft?
