Infertility

RE nurse tried blaming me.... I'm Furious!

As if those of us going through IVF don't have enough problems.... So today I go in for my typical bw and u/s and during the discussion I had said about how the progesterone inj. we're going when the nurse turns to me and said you weren't supposed to start them. I was shocked. She called on monday to say that my estrogen level was still to low and I needed to buy it back up to 3 MG and a 1/2 MG vaginally. So I said ok and we made an appointment for today for more b/w and u/s. At no point did she say not to start the progesterone or medrol and so I started both according to the original calender plan she gave me. So now there is a possibility that we have to cancel the cycle and start again. I'm at a loss for what to do because we don't have the money for another cycle and if we have to cancel this cycle We have to pay again for what's already been done. How should I handle this? Any suggestions?

  • No advice, but sorry you are going through this.  FX that everything works out.

  • I am sorry you have to deal with this, I hope it works out.  If you have to cancel this cycle I would talk with your doctor first and then the head of the office if you dont get results.  They should cover the cost of the next cycle because they are supposed to be clear with you on the process and procedures.  This is on the nurse not you so I would try to get them to cover the costs of everything.  Good Luck!

  • I agree.  If you have paperwork from the doctor's office saying you should have started and you followed that, I would ask them to cover the cycle if this turned out to be incorrect.  I'd also be doubly sure that this was incorrect before scrapping everything.

I am so sorry this happened to you.  This whole process is emotionally and financially stressful enough without these types of mistakes.
  • Yay!!!! Good luck!

  • Just to update everyone I got my BFP yesterday confirmed today with bw and my beta is not till Monday but my HCG level was 88 this am at 6dp5dt. Isn't that kinda high? That would be 11dpo right?
  • That's pretty amazing! Congrats! I was at 81 13dpo, so I'd say that's fairly high. How many did you transfer? Glad it all worked out for you despite what happened!
  • @KidShrink I did transfer two. So I am really waiting to see what the numbers do on mon. Although hcg levels are not indicative of anything really except pregnancy there have been studies done in regards to the hcg level and singletons, twins and triplets . So my take is I'll wait till I can see with my own eyes and just hope for healthy!
  • I hear ya! I've been anxiously waiting for my 1st U/S which will be on Tuesday (at 7w exactly). There's a chance of multiples from the IUI, but also because we have identical twins on both sides of the family. So many family members are rooting for twins. At this point, I really don't care...I just want a healthy baby with a nice heartbeat! Keep us posted on Monday!
