  • Loading the player...
  • Nanny, sell Arbonne, Jamberry, etc. ?
  • My mom babysat and cleaned houses while I was little so she could take me with her. Might want to try that! I'm sure you could make some decent money from that.
  • Get online and do some research. None of us have any idea of your qualifications or interests. There's tons of job listings for work from home but you are going to have to go through them all and see what will work for you.
    Good luck
  • Have you looked into LeapForce or Lionsbridge? They are legitimate companies that need people to help improve the quality of web searches for Google, Bing, etc. It's not always steady, but if you pass their tests and are accepted, it's $12 per hour, I believe.

I work from home for my law firm, but only because I had to temporarily move out of state for my husband's job. I still plan on doing daycare or more likely having someone come in to watch baby a few hours each day. My caution would be that if you plan on seriously working from home, you will still need to have baby watched because I would imagine it would be difficult to get anything done while taking care of an infant. For me at least, where I have conference calls, virtual meetings and need to fully concentrate on what I'm doing, I don't think I can count on baby's nap schedule to be sufficient amount of time or regular enough. I'm a first-timer, so I'm just speculating, but would love to get the reactions of others on this thought.
  • I agree with @ChrissyD1203. If you are planning to find something serious that you can do from home you will probably still need  daycare or a nanny. We kept DS home at first because my husband works from home. He was only working part time at the time so he was able to arrange his schedule around baby and do more work after I got home. However, by the time DS was about 6 months old it was getting to be too much and DH wasn't able to get much actual work done, so we started him in daycare. If you are just looking for something to bring in a little extra cash I would suggest, like a PP also mentioned, doing something like Jamberry, Tastefully Simple, etc.
  • A "real" job from home will still require you to have childcare. Otherwise you won't be able to get anything done.

Please do your research before joining an MLM (Rodan and fields, younique whatever) as the average income is 600 a YEAR. These documents are available online.

An in-home daycare is a possibility, but you will need to check with your state for licensing laws.
  • Agree with PP. I work from home and am still planning on having childcare. After a certain point, it will be difficult to tend to baby and get work done.
  • Yes to PP about childcare. I work very pt from home as a lawyer and really struggle to get anything done when our nanny isn't here. Then again, I have toddler twins, but I think it would still be pretty tough with one. When I'm on as mommy, I'm mommy and not answering calls or checking emails. Luckily that works just fine with my sporadic project arrangement now.
  • Pretty much what everyone else has already said. Anything other than in home childcare is going to be difficult as your baby ages and you're either gonna slack off as a mom or an employee to get it all done.
