Mamas of preemies

How much do your LOs weigh? Evelyn just had her 2 month appointment yesterday and she weighed 8lbs5oz. She was born at 35 weeks and weighed 5lbs3oz at birth so she has come a long way but still feels so small! Just curious how other preemies are doing with weight gain?

Re: Mamas of preemies

  • That's great! Gain baby, gain! I'm glad she is doing so well. Lucy was 7lbs 11oz at 37 weeks and at 2 months she is 11 lbs 5 oz.

  • Barely premature here, but my boy was born at 36w6d at 7lbs15oz and at 6 weeks is 12lbs 5oz. He's massive.
  • Khari was 38w4D although he may not be considered preemie since he was in the NICU I feel it applies. He was 6-1 at birth at 6wks he's 8-5. He's still in Newborn, and feels tiny but always eating so we will see how fast he will gain.

  • Aw yay I'm glad all our babies are gaining! It's strange when I see other two month old babies and compared to some mine looks like a newborn! But I just have to remind myself she was a preemie and that's to be expected.
  • Born at 36-6 ("pre-term" by three measly hours) at 5 lbs 13 oz. On Wednesday at 4 wks 5 days she was 8 lbs 3 oz. Grow, baby, grow!!
  • My little guy was born at 33w5d weighing 4lb8oz. He's now 7 weeks and weighs 8lbs 11.5oz as of today. He's also still on the Neosure 22 cal.
  • My baby was 37 weeks and weighed 5 lb 4 oz and at her month visit was 6 lbs 11 oz. still tiny but seems to be growing daily!
  • Baby boy was born at 34 weeks 1 day and weighed 5 pounds 13 ounces. He is now over 12 pounds at 11 weeks!
  • Both my boys were preemies. But my youngest will be 3 weeks tomorrow. He was born at 33weeks & 2 days weighing 4 pounds 5 ounces. He now weighs 5 pounds 6 ounces.
  • How are your preemies doing with milestones? My baby is 8 weeks actual; 2 weeks adjusted. He isn't smiling or cooing. He is lifting his head up. He basically just slept nonstop until his due date. He's really started waking up in the last 2 weeks.

  • @BritJonathan my son will smile occasionally, mostly in his sleep. No Coo's and his neck is still flimsy. His Dr did this airplane move and DS would hold his head for a few seconds so she he has the muscles and will get there soon enough.

He has early intervention starting Tuesday I'm curious to see what they say and recommend as safe excersises. My son also has boots on for his club feet so tummy time is limited.

He is 6 wks going on 7 and has been up a lot more.

My baby is 10 weeks actual, 5 weeks adjusted and only really started smiling and cooing in the last two weeks or so.

  • Our little guy is just about 8 weeks actual, 1 week adjusted. He's still only smiling occasionally and mostly just in his sleep. No cooing yet. He's lifting his head and holding it for a few seconds. This week, he really started to take an interest in what's going on around him and watching the ceiling fan, mobile and himself in a mirror.
  • Baby Anna was born right at 34 weeks weighing 3 lbs 13 oz. She's now 10 weeks old and weighs 7 lbs 15 oz. She's still so tiny! My son was her size at birth, so it's strange comparing pictures bc he was so chunky!
  • That sounds great! LO was also born at 35 weeks 4 days and weighed 4 lbs 7 oz at birth. At his 6 week weigh in, he was 7 lbs 13 oz. He is so tiny!

As far as milestones go, I've thrown most of them out of the window. He started lifting his head up at 2 weeks and he's already rolling over. He coos every now and again, but nothing constant. And he smiles on occasion since birth. And he's always been a curious little fellow. It's only recently that he's followed something that intrigues him like a rattle or a mobile.
  • My lil guy was born at 35 weeks exactly...weighing in at 6lbs2oz...at one month checkup he weighed 8lbs6oz...so he's gaining steadily :)
