Follow up appointment after D&C

Hi ladies,

I had a d&c for a mmc last week and I'm finally starting to feel better physically and looking to schedule the follow up appointment.  It's my first mc (first pregnancy) and I'm nervous and not sure what to expect. (I found out I mc-ed went for the 12 week appointment and found the baby stopped growing at 9 weeks.)   How long after the procedure did you have a follow up and did you go alone? What can I expect from the appointment?  I was hoping it would help with my emotional healing and make me think forward, but now I'm nervous that may not be the case. 

Thank you all ladies. I have been lurking on this board for about a week now but was nervous to actually post anything. I'm so grateful for the stories and support from all of you and I'm so very sorry for all that everyone is going through.

    My follow up was 2 weeks after my d&c and my doctor didn't do an exam or anything because I hadn't had any complications (minimal bleeding, no bad cramps, hpt already reading negative). We just talked about looking at the future and when to try again and how I was doing emotionally. My DH went with me because I didn't know what to expect and after finding out our baby didn't have a heartbeat alone with just our 2 year old with me, I was kind of afraid to go to the doctor alone. Sorry for your loss.

    Sorry for your loss. I had my follow up appt on Tues. My 2 year old was with me but only because my husband had to work otherwise I would've went alone. There wasn't an exam. It was more just checking in to see how I was doing. Good luck to you!

    I forgot to add that he did order blood work to check my levels.

    My first mc I also had a d&c. The follow up appt was short and sweet since I wasn't having any issues with recovery. I am scheduled for another d&c tomorrow. The follow up appt for this one will be a little more since the dr took blood yesterday to try and figure out what is going on. Sorry for your loss.

    I've had two d&cs both had follow up appointments 2 weeks after. Also at both she did a quick pelvic exam to make sure my uterus shrank back down to the right size. At my second we discussed testing for recurrent pregnancy loss and got appointments set up for that.

    My followup appt after the d&c was also two weeks after. I did have an exam. I was not having any complications, but was 14 weeks when baby stopped growing so perhaps that is why. She also ordered some testing for me since it was my third mc. Hubby went with me for moral support.

    My story is very similar. Also found out at 12w baby stopped growing at 9w. I am waiting 2 weeks to hopefully naturally miscarry. I am nervous about the level checks and blood draws. Hopefully they come down quickly so we can get back to TTC. I will have to go to the appt. alone because my DH can't take off, financially.
