Telling the in laws..... how and when

We have three children... youngest is only 11 months old! I don't want to tell the in laws until the bump is too big to deny .... we are close in terms of communication. ... and mil has shared news of hubby's cousin being pregnant when she was only wks along..... but this being our fourth... I just want to keep it to ourselves for a while.... because once it's out its out. My mom and sisters know..... were extremely close.

Re: Telling the in laws..... how and when

  • The earliest we'll tell anyone will be after my first appointment (Oct. 13).

We're going to try and wait until after 1st tri, but I have a work trip the last week of October and there will be lots of drinking there so it will probably be out before then.

We don't live close to family though so there's no risk of them noticing bloat/bump sooner! (Silver lining to living far away from family) :)

  • We're telling our families this weekend! I'm almost 7 wks.
  • We will tell the in-laws after our first appointment. I was supposed to travel to see them over new years, but since I am high risk I most likely will not travel out of the country then. I just want to make sure everything is as normal as can be for me before telling them.

  • Thanks for the opinions ladies. I'll have to talk this over wi th DH. make sure he doesn't spill the beans yet .
  • My DD will be 2 at the end of Oct. I think we might try to wait until then and have DD open a last gift from mommy & daddy with a big sister shirt. Both families will be there to find out at once.

  • First time pregnancy here, and my husband and I told his parents and my parents immediately after we got my bloodwork done and spotted healthy HCG levels (I was 3w3d then, so nothing much thicker lining on the u/s). It was really early, but we are very close to both sets of parents and they would be the ones to comfort us and reassure us in case of the worst. We are all praying for a sticky little bean. :)
  • Like you, we had IL's who spilled the beans to others before we were ready to tell everyone. This time we are waiting until a bit later. Not exactly sure when yet though....we are enjoying keeping it a secret for now!

  • We will be telling his parents the 1st weekend of October I am SO excited. His mom is going to absolutely flip. I need to get it on video as I have a feeling it will be viral worthy and I can get on Good Morning America ;) Getting them this to open as an announcement

  • I am sooo ready to tell my family but can't bc hubby doesn't think it's fair to not tell his. The only reason I hesitate to tell is I've seen how this goes and his parents and sister will start telling people. So we are going to wait until after our first appointment in Oct. 1 (our oldests 8th birthday) to tell... Probably that weekend
  • We're visiting my parents in 2 weeks, I'll be 8w3d, and our dog is wearing an "I'm going to be a big brother!" T-shirt haha. Cheesy, but hopefully effective. I'm also framing the US pic for both sets of parents. We'll come back in town and tell his parents the same way. It's the first grandchild for everyone. Only a few close friends know currently, and no one gets to see the US pic til my mama sees it!
