Too many wires...

So I am currently in the hospital hooked to a million things, and I have never been more uncomfortable in my entire life. About 3 weeks ago I started having high BP (150's/90's) so the first week I was told to stop working, so I did. The second week it was high 160's/90's, so they put me on bed rest. When laying down my pressure would be almost normal , and the only other symptom of pre-e I had was swelling. This week they sent me to L&D for a 24 hour urine test and BP checks, as they were going to discharge me my BP shot up to 171/94! So they admitted me and I am in the process of being induced. My doc wants me on total bed rest, so I have a urinary catheter, blood pressure cuff, baby monitor, some thingies on my legs (to prevent blood clots?), fluids, magnesium, the pulse thing, and last but not least- oxygen, because baby's heart rate was low... We WERE sleeping. I'm usually extremely anxious, so being confined like this should throw me into a full fledged panic attack, but I'm staying positive and not freaking myself out (easier said than done). I just needed to rant, primarily, and to thank all of you. Reading everyone's stories has helped immensely in reassuring me that everything will be ok and that I'm not in this alone! So I have cervadil for 3 hours, and then start my pictocin in 4... Wish me luck!

  • I empathize with you! From the nursing perspective it is, alot of stuff to be connected to and I know those, automatic cuffs hurt so badly!! Hopefully it will be all over soon enough! Good luck!
  • The end is in sight momma!!! Just keep reminding yourself of the prize: BABY! So excited for you.

  • The things on your legs are to help prevent blood clots! :)
And good luck momma!! Sounds like you're having a pretty wild day so far! But you've got this!! I know it can be incredibly overwhelming, but I just always tried to think of how they were keeping baby safe by keeping such a close eye on her (and you too!!), which makes it totally worth it!
  • I feel you! The same when I had my son. They told me to "sleep" and I had a blood pressure monitor on me that would go off every 3 minutes not to mention cords and IVs coming out of everywhere. It was terrible. I was so exhausted by the time I was ready to push. Good luck! I survived and I'm a whiner. So you will do great!
  • Good luck!! Just keep that end result in mind! You've got this :)
  • Good luck! I went through the same thing too. Might be annoying now but once your baby gets here you won't even remember all the inconvenience you are feeling now!
  • Oh my gosh, girl!! You're not kidding!! That's a lot of wires!! I hope you can sleep through a lot of this! I hope you have loved ones to visit and squeeze your hands!
Get pictures! You can guilt your child into whatever later in life! "Look what I went through for you!"
