Suggestions for 30th Birthday Party - 22 Weeks Pregnant

Hi All-

I'll be 22 weeks pregnant on my 30th birthday, which happens to be on Halloween. All of the idea's I had involved going to places where drinking is involved (i.e. Napa, CA or Las Vegas). Does anyone have ideas on how to celebrate? Since it's on Halloween, I have family and friends who will be taking their kids out trick or treating so I think a big party is out of the question.

Thanks!

  • Are you hoping to travel somewhere or stay close to home?

Some places you could travel that are not alcohol-centric: NYC, Nashville, DC, San Francisco, LA, Chicago

Some things to do at home for a one-night party: spa theme, reserve a room for dinner at a nice place with a group of friends, throw Halloween/Bday party yourself, host a game night, get a night at a fancy hotel with your SO, bowling, one of those painting party things, etc.

I am not really sure what you're in to so I hope this helps get your imagination flowing!

  • Maybe a fun city with good food, Chicago, Charleston, etc? Or a fun sporting event, concert, or fall festival/event in your area? If it were me I'd do a trip to the beach (Florida or California) or a relaxing spa day, and then some really indulgent eating - basically, the stuff I want to (and am able to) enjoy as much as possible before the baby arrives!
  • I also vote for spa or beach!

  • I'd say beach! If you're not far from a port city, you could take a 4-5 day cruise too! I think my husband and I may try to hop on one before baby gets here because I'll be pregnant on my birthday too!

  • I found out I was pregnant on July 3rd and turned 30 on the 16th. We had a painting party. I drank oj and ginger ale and kept a big secret from all of my friends

  • Thanks everyone - these are all great suggestions :-)
  • Murder mystery party!
  • Nice dinner at a fancier place then you'd normally go... You're saving $$ by not drinking so splurge on awesome food.

And some kind of fancy massage/pedicure/spa treatment

I just turned 30 two week ago, and was about 10 weeks pregnant. I'd always wanted to have a dirty thirty party, and make it really girly and fun an have all my family and from come. But DH and I got pregnant right away, we were thinking it would take time. Anyway, I felt so crappy that I didn't want a party in case I was too sick to go. But we decided to have a regular bday party am announce to our extended family. It turned out nice, it wasn't my dirty thirty, but I'll have to make up for it on my 31st, haha.

I recommend having a Halloween themed birthday party, throw it the weekend before Halloween so people can come. Or you could make it a different theme, and decorate and have your guests dress up for whatever theme it is? If you have a party, youcould make some different types of mocktails to serve! Serve in fancy wine glasses or throw some umbrellas in them for extra fun!

Or get dressed up and go out to a nice restaurant for a fancy dinner, get a hotel room on the beach (if you live near one), or in a nearby city and go sightseeing and try different foods.
  • I'm in the same boat! My 30th birthday is sept 27th and i will be 15 weeks...vegas is definitely out ;)
  • If this is your first baby, definitely try to get a romantic date with your significant other or a get-away weekend.  After the first baby, your birthday will just be another usual night since bed time is 9pm. You may get a nice dinner over the weekend with friends and family.  =)

My 30th birthday tomorrow and I will be around 12 weeks.  I'm going to celebrate with an NT scan at the OB office and then taking DD for her 15 months check-up and get her shots.  Definitely no partying but we'll probably go out for a nice dinner on Friday (if DH remembers to make a reservation).
  • My birthday is Wednesday. I will be 37.We are just going to have a small party at our house with close family and friends with dinner and cake and ice cream. Nothing fancy.
