How do you stay awake at night?

Alright, since baby boy has recently decided he needs to nurse every 2 hours at night, I need to figure out a way to stay up. (I know I could actually sleep and nurse, but he still needs help latching and staying awake long enough to get a full belly).

I need recommendations - apps, websites, Netflix shows I could binge on...anything I can do on my phone!

Re: How do you stay awake at night?

  • I go down the hall to DD nursery and play on my phone and still find myself dozing off. I always wake up when my head falls.
  • Loading the player...
  • Well haven't had baby yet but I have games on my phone like Candy Crush and Hay Day. I will check Instagram and obviously the forums here.

You could watch Call the Midwife, Once Upon a Time or any number of Netflix shows (I don't know what you're into).

Hopefully this season of needing to be fully awake for night feedings is a short season for you!

  • MOTN feeding threads (like the one started last night) were lifesavers for me with DD2. I could post any silly thing in there! Poop horror stories, nonsense DH rolled over and said, sweet moments that made it all worth it! We had a lot of fun with it last time.

That and Instagram! I don't have Netflix, but I usually just find some goofy thing on to help me stay away.
  • I listen to podcasts on my iPod and play on my phone.  With DS1 I did a lot of binge watching but there isn't a ton on now.  I watched all the seasons of Game of Thrones, The League, Silicon Valley and caught up on The Walking Dead.

My biggest problem now is that DH also binged watched them and now he gets sad if I watch the newest episodes without him :(

I also love the UK version of Being Human, it used to be free on Amazon Prime but I don't know if it still is.
  • I just finished watching One Tree Hill on Netflix. On hulu I have been watching Dance Moms. Scandal, Greys Anatomy, private practice, ncis, revenge are all shows I like on Netflix. I think Gilmore Girls and Parenthood are next on my list.
  • I'm so grateful fall TV shows will be starting up again! I look forward to a full DVR soon.

  • I played candy crush when I nursed my daughter. I haven't played in years and just started again while nursing this guy.

  • Orange is the New Black!!
  • Last time, DD was born around Christmas and I got Scrabble the computer game as a gift so I played that all the time.
DH would wake up, look over and ask if I was winning before he went back to sleep haha.
  • There are so many shows I can recommend: Orange is the New Black, Gilmore Girls, Parenthood, West Wing, How I Met Your Mother, House of Cards, Seinfeld (full series on Hulu Plus), Lost, Friends, The Office

    Good luck!
  • Colorfy is a digital adult coloring app I just found! Love it.
  • Social media is your friend! I did my best tweeting and facebooking at 2 am lol. I also did a lot of online shopping and reading, but sometimes I would just zombie my way thru it so I would have issues once I got back into the bed. What I will say is make sure you position baby with a pillow so when you doze off you don't drop them... my boppy saved us quite a few times!
  • I like sitcoms on netflix, since they are only about 20 minutes long. I finished How I Met Your Mother and House Hunters. With my first I used to watch "Say Yes to the Dress." I need two hands still to get the best latch, so shows are all I can do. Later, when we get better and I can use my hands, I try to read good books.
