Gas drop recommendations?

My LO is 2 weeks 5 days and the past 3-4 days has had increasingly bad gas! He has had gas before but it was just farts without making the faces or anything. Now it seems to be causing him excessive pain and discomfort, to the point where he will really squirm and even cry sometimes. He just looks so uncomfortable and it's like there is nothing I can do to help! I did search the board looking for other posts about gas drops, but everything was sort of scattered and only one brand was mentioned by name.

So, BTDT moms, what gas drops have you used, and where did you get them? Thanks ladies!

Re: Gas drop recommendations?

  • I used Simethacone drops and Gerber Soothe Colic drops per DD's doctor recommendation, neither seemed to help. Started Tummy Calm drops over the weekend, started seeing relief immediately. Found all of them at Walgreen's.

  • I've been using Mommy's Bliss Gripe water. Got it at Walmart after several parents swore by it. It does seem to help ease her discomfort. Read reviews online, it has great reviews. It's supposed to be all natural, which is a plus!

This is what we've used. I also just picked up the Windi (so many posters seem to love it) so we'll see how that works for us. We don't have major gas issues just yet.

  • Thank you all for the suggestions! @CaliforniaDream87 - let me know how the Windi goes for you - that was something I found on the board during my search and I'm curious about it!
  • I have the gripe water As well. I add it to his bottle. It also works well with hiccups!
  • I use little remedies gas drops. It's simethicone but with no added colors or additives like some other brands. It works in a few minutes for my LO but every kid is different. I also use mommys bliss probitic drops every night. Her gas seems to have slowed down a bit since using it

After the "Windi warning post" I'll be passing on the Windi. I wanted a chance to research (that's why I haven't used it yet) and I'm just not comfortable with it. I'll stick with my gripe water :)

  • I'm using Biogaia probiotics to help our DD's gas. It seems to help her!
  • I just can't get over the whole, "sticking something up baby's bottom". I'm too queasy!!

This is why I was so hesitant! Also, just received a message back from my pedi and she recommends gripe water over windi. Very content with my decision against :)

We use gripe water too. Have you seen the night time one? They didn't have it with my first but these two seem to like it sometimes during the night.

Oh no I haven't! Didn't know they had a night time one. I'll have to take a look. She only seems to have these issues at night.

  • I use the Mylicon, sometimes it seems to work and sometimes it doesn't. Pedi recommended it but curious about the gripe water.

It adds camomile and something else, I forgot. Instructions say for use at one month old though, which is interesting because regular gripe water says two weeks. I wonder why?
