Re: Did you see the Nov15 birth announcement thread?

  • I have about 10 weeks left, two of those weeks starting next week, my husband is on leave. So, in theory that could be our major prep time. However, knowing him, next to nothing baby related will get done in that time, and him being home will probably hurt my productivity when it comes to the nursery crafting I need to get done.

And of course, due to some complications I've been experiencing, it wouldn't be shocking if he came early.

Part of me is like "yes, let's hurry these last few weeks up, I'm ready to meet my baby and be done being pregnant!" But part of me is also thinking "slow your roll, there's still way too much to do before he gets here.

Guys I still have to move overseas in less than 2 weeks, find a new doctor/hospital, and find a house before this baby shows up! Oh and learn enough German by the time he shows up, just in case I get nurses who don't speak English during labor. No pressure, right? :(( @-)

If it makes you feel better, I ran into so many Germans that spoke English, and beautifully too. They barely had an accent. I'm guessing you're military moving there? If that's the case, people usually speak more English around American military bases, especially in facilities like that where they speak with us more.

Yes we are a military family. I've been told this, but I want to try and learn some German over the next couple weeks so that I'm not the idiot American who didn't bother to try and learn it at the very least. Just in case :)

  • I have less than 10 weeks left, hardly anything done in the nursery, a few outfits together, and not even the car seat and play pen for baby to leave the hospital and come home.  I've been told to "wait until the shower" which isn't really supposed to be a shower it's supposed to be a party for friends and family and it's planned for 3 WEEKS BEFORE MY EDD.  I'm kind of freaking out.  A lot.

No one seems to understand deadlines in my household.  It makes me want to go nuts!

If there's something strange underneath the hood.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  If there's something weird and it don't look good.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  Immediately.  If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor.  It's for your health and your child's.

  • Due 11/8!! My DD came 3 weeks early so mentally I've been preparing that anything after 36 weeks is fair game, haha!! So 6 weeks to go at the min!! I'm so glad babies don't need much to start with. I have the essentials to bring her home and worst case scenario we can stop an buy diapers on the way home. My shower is in 4 weeks so I think all will be well. Can't wait to meet her!!

    I love deadlines!
  • Had my first delivery dream last night. It was a very weird dream and was similar to a C section. My husband and I were at some kind of medical school thing and I was laying in the bed and we got a peak of the baby, like my belly just opened up like a window to see a very clean baby, it had dark brown hair about an inch in length, I thought he looked like my youngest 2 boys and then all of a sudden they were taking him out because of some medical reason. Then the nurse comes over and says that she is very healthy and doing very well. SHE! I said it was supposed to be a boy. Nope it was a girl and then she gave her to me and we left and on my way home we had to stop at the store so I could buy a girl outfit :)

So now I am even more ready!!!!
  • I feel like I probably shouldn't be, but I'm assuming I'm going to deliver late... no idea why I think that (especially since DH and I both were born a few weeks early). I just have a feeling that November 14 is going to come and go without a hospital visit or getting to meet baby. I still plan to have everything as ready as possible by the end of October, but I'm not overly worried about having a little over 10 weeks left...
  • My husband finally got the daughter's car seat out of storage and it's almost expired. So have to get one of those for little man. My friends told me not to get anything because they are throwing me a "party". I did not wait til the last minute with my first so I have no clue why I have procrastinated so bad this time. I do have some clothes, diapers and a place for him to sleep. So at least I've got something done.
  • I'm all up on google seeing when I should have. My hospital bag packed and car seat installed. Due date is November 8 but I have gestational diabetes, so midwife said I should anicipate her not allowing me to go past our November 8 due date. How is this all happening so quickly??
  • I feel like I should be freaking out but I'm feeling pretty calm. We have been anticipating (TTC) for two years now so we've been preparing ourselves for this moment. I wish it was already November. So excited!!

I completely understand.  Thankfully I had the excuse that I live 8 hours away from where one shower is taking place and 4 hours away from where the other will be, so I convinced them to plan them earlier.  I'll have one this weekend at 28 weeks and one at 33 weeks. It took way too much convincing, even with the excuse that I didn't want to go into early labor or drive by myself (DH works weekends) at 8 months pregnant, to have them "so early."  You'd think wanting a little planning time, since I'm "not allowed" to buy anything until after the shower, would be reason enough.  I don't really get why you're supposed to wait that late to begin with...
  • For my first I didn't have my hospital bag packed until I was having contractions... with 9 weeks to go this time around it's all ready to go! This is a big deal for me... procrastination is an art form I usually take very seriously, but it feels nice to have one less thing floating around in my brain!
  • I can't believe it's coming up so quickly!! I feel like I am pretty prepared; nursery furniture is set up, just need to organize and wash the new clothes (third baby, first girl, so there is a TON. Mommy probably went overboard.). Haven't purchased her car seat yet, but have one from DS2 that is still in great condition, just want a different pattern this go round, but can use that one for backup, if needed. Just need to potty train DS2 ASAP and I will be ready for her! Lol

  • This is my first, but a lot of my family including my mother with all three of her kids were early - most by about 2 weeks.  Compound that with the fact that all they aged me off of was a measurement at an u/s and yeah - I'll be surprised if I make it all the way to my due date, nov 2.  I'm hoping for a halloween baby, but you never know - I'm looking to have everything ready and set to go by mid-october just to make sure we aren't caught off guard, lol.

Mamma: Kitta 25, Activity Coordinator and Nurse at a school for mentally disabled adults
Dad: Toby, 36, army veteran and woodworker
First time pregnant and so excited!

  • So I wasn't to worried about this but then my midwife at my yesterday goes "can you believe that in as little as 7 weeks he could be here" crap really?? Ok do the possibility of my LO coming early is pretty slim, all 3 of mine had been pretty dead on with EDD, so I'm pretty confident that I still have 9-10 weeks. But that did get me thinking that I need to start thinking of getting car seat, bassinet and bags ready!
  • I keep checking to see if anything has been posted to that thread, AHH! I've become addicted to looking at the Aug, Sept, & Oct birth announcements DAILY.

For sure! DH had an Italian English picture dictionary that I used to learn some key phrases and words until I was able to take the Italian language class through ACS. A girl I know was able to take a German language class through ACS there too and found it to so helpful! Good luck and enjoy your time there!! :-)
  • It hit me today that in 10 weeks Oliver will be here. So naturally I'm currently sterilizing and washing all bottles, nipples, pacifiers & getting his clothes washed and put away. We still need to set up the crib, get the car seat and build our stockpile of diapers and wipes. I feel like 10 weeks is just not enough time.
  • Im due 11/8 and still need to sign contracts on our new place, close, move, and set up the baby room (not to mention the rest of our home). Although 8/9 weekends sound just around the corner, the month of November does not.
  • Between work, school, my internship, weddings, family visiting, baby shower, and everything else I am a ball of overwhelmed anxiety! Not to mention the fact that we literally have NOTHING prepared for the tiny human. I nearly had a heart attack when we were scheduling out appointments and the receptionist said "okay so after that we will do every week".... wait... what?!?!!
  • This is my 3rd. 12yr gap between my youngest and upcoming baby. I'm due Nov 4. I'm ready RIGHT NOW! I'm counting days. I've been begging my OB to induce early. Baby is in the 97th percentile. He's HUGE! This pregnancy isn't near as fun as it was when I was 20 and healthier. lol I was unprepared with the last 2 and never had a shower to help with baby supplies (clothes, diapers, crib, bathing essentials, etc). My in laws insisted on a shower, so I'll already be ahead. lol I'm just ready. My body and I are miserable.

We've got 9 weeks to go... As of today! Yay!

    Good luck to you ladies!!
  • Woo - We have the first Nov board birth announcement :)

As a FTM I've been stalking the board to look out for announcements of healthy babies! I'm realizing now how quickly all this can happen now... Time to finish the hospital bag this weekend!

  • I'm due 5th Nov and I'll be pleased for the next 8 weeks to hopefully go quick. Three times now I've dreamt I've had the baby but they need to put it back up inside me..Lol. Nursery is decorated but not carpeted or finished yet, we have the Moses basket for baby to sleep in our room and a few blankets and baby grows washed and ready to go. Need to get a few more bits but if anything I feel like there's too much time to kill! Trying to relax and enjoy the last few weeks of pregnancy, bar baby in my ribs.
And yes I felt very excited too reading the first birth announcement. Good luck to the new mama. And to the rest of you too!
  • Due Nov 7 but knowing my luck, I will probably go into labor snack in the middle of a midterm.

  • @TacoSarah that sounds like the dream life right there. I'm tempted to go grab the Nutella now.

I made a mistake of epic proportions yesterday. Store own brand was on sale, so I thought, how different can it be?

Disappointment level: I can't even ... just no

Unless you get Aldi brand which is actually the exact same thing.

This was Sainsbury's, it was so wrong on so many levels. I think I may use it for baking and not eating.

Aldi really is a great place.

Occasionally I think maybe I should go out and be an irresponsible childless single gal for one last time in my life, but then I get into bed at 8pm on a Saturday night with Netflix, pregnancy pillow and a jar of Nutella and a spoon and I'm like nope, this is where it's at.

I feel like this post perfectly sums up my life. Love. It.

My mum went to culinary school in Italy and she used to make me her own homemade nutella. I can't describe the joy.

That's so depressing. I found out though that for many products at aldi, all they do is stop the production line for the name brand and switch out the labels. If the jar/container is the same, there's a good chance the food on the inside is the same.

Aldi is my favorite grocery store. I drive 30 minutes to get to the closest one because the only store in town has a monopoly and their prices show it ($4 for a gallon of milk - what?!?!?)
