  • Yesssss!!! My carpal tunnel made an appearance at week 34 of my pregnancy!! I didn't even know this was one of the side effects. My baby will be 3 months old soon and I'm still experiencing it. My doctor said to give it a couple more months and it would eventually go away....ummmmm no! I think this is gonna go for the long hawl. I'll be seeing a specialist next month if it continues. It is especially worse on my right hand, which is the hand I use to handle baby, bottle feed, etc! I use hand splints, got them at Walmart. They help somewhat.

  • My left wrist hurt 2 weeks ago, now my right wrist does and my index finger on my right hand is swelled.. I have RA, but been in remission for over 2 years... I'm really hoping it's not coming back
  • Yup. I've had carpal tunnel since college but I manage it work ergonomic mouse and keyboard, wear wrist braces when needed, etc. So it usually is ok, but over the past 2 weeks is been getting worse. I don't want to have to wear a brace on both wrists all the time but not sure what else I can do
  • I wear wrist braces to bed when it's getting really bad. That usually helps.

    • BFP #4 - 9/28/2014 - EDD 6/4/2015 - DS Born 5/31/2015

  • My husband has it from working on the computer all day, but I never had problens until now. I tried wearing his brace to bed on my dominant hand and it helped some. Google says it normally goes away between 6 - 12 months.

    That's. A. Long. Freaking. Time.
  • Not sure if this is carpal tunnel or not, but it seems related...joint/ligament pain in my right hand, particularly around my middle finger. Has been since a couple weeks after I gave birth. Man, it hurts! Can't grip or twist things. Annoying.
  • I had carpal tunnel with both pregnancies. The first time it was worse because I was still working as a cake decorator (which is what caused it in the first place). My method of treatment is getting a massage by a true massage therapist. It helped loosen up the surrounding muscles and provide some relief. Also ice it. It helps to reduce the swelling.
  • Mine has been absolutely terrible. I had it before I was pregnant. I got a prenatal massage and the the therapist could tell I had it. It has only gotten worse since and now I'm contimplating having it looked at- I wear the brace constantly. Has anyone had surgery?...
  • My husband had surgery for it (not baby related, haha!) and said it was the best thing he's ever done. Easy surgery, small incision.

Yes, I had tendinitis in my right hand. It's called mommy thumb, look it up. It's on the thumb side and was excruciating. It got to the point where is was painful to pick up LO and support her head while breastfeeding. I didn't want to wear a brace or do physical therapy twice a week, so I got the cortisone shot. Holy crap did that hurt, but within a couple days there was no more pain. I've been pain free for over a month now. The way the orthopedist checked for it was to make me make a fist with my thumb tucked in, and then holding my arm out in front of me, try bending my wrist so my fist angles down to the floor. I thought I was gonna faint from the pain that shot through my wrist. That's how he knew it was tendinitis. I've attached a couple pictures of what I mean.

ETA: I also had wrist pain in my third trimester. Both before and after baby, I tried wearing a brace to bed, icing, etc. nothing helped. Also, I don't recommend doing the test at home, just saying what he had me do. Go to a professional to get it checked out if you are in pain.

Just for fun, I tried it. So dumb. It's 4 am, I should not have been doing things that cause yelping in pain. Talked to DH last night when I had to ask for help getting LO out of his swing and we're making an appointment tomorrow, once my new insurance kicks over.

Yall are the best. Just in case you forgot.
  • I'm not sure if its carpal tunnel, but I swear my hands are weaker and more arthritic feeling! I had to ask DH to open a bottle of ketchup (stupid seal thing) for me; it's not supposed to be child proof! By the end of the day my hands feel like I've been rock climbing or something. Not sure what's going on, but I'm happy to know I'm not alone.

  • I had some major aching in my hands for a while, and my left elbow joint was a mess from holding LOs head!
  • My carpal tunnel is in full effect still! I want to cry...

  • I have RA and can hardly move my hands in the mornings :(
  • Still bad here, too. With some arthritis on top, I look like a caveman. Doctor said there's nothing they can do besides surgery. No thanks.
