GTKY: Crafting for baby

Hello everyone,

Is anyone else crafty? I have been knitting a nursing shawl and working on a couple of cross stitch projects that would be perfect for a nursery :) I was just wondering if anyone else is doing the same?

Re: GTKY: Crafting for baby

  • I'm so jealous! Whatever the opposite of crafty is, that is me. I'd love to learn how to be crafty, though.

  • I mostly crochet (even have an Etsy shop so that I can fund my crafting habit. lol). I won't start anything until after we know what we're having.

  • I've done burp clothes, some baby quilts, tie-dye onsies, and other crafty things for friends. I'm sure I'll be making some for us once I'm further along and out of the danger zone.

  • I did a bunch of stuff for DS like hooded blankets, burp clothes, crib skirt, pillows, curtains, and upholstered toy boxes...I haven't done anything yet for this pregnancy. Some things I'll re-use because DS has outgrown them; others I'll wait for until we design a nursery. For now, DH and I plan on having a crib in our room for this baby for at least the first few months, so I probably won't be crafting for the room until later. I'm really excited to see what everyone makes though!
  • I will be crocheting a blanket and some converse sneakers.

  • I've already got a little hoard of stuff for my baby that I was working on before I got pregnant. I've made a quiet book out of fabric and things with my mom & grandma, we're working on another one right now and a Christmas stocking. We've made a bigger quilt with an owl on it. I've made a few baby blocks from fabric, knitted baby hats, and some burp clothes. I'm planning on making more of those and a couple of diaper pad changing covers, some bibs, a floor play mat, and a fabric gate for the stairs. I love doing crafts!

Wow! You sound like me. I have several sweaters I knitted a few years ago that I have been saving for a special baby! Luckily my favourite of the 3 is unisex so I'm covered either way!

  • I've made blankets and fitted crib sheet for DD2 but this time id like to make a quilt once I find out gender!
  • I will be making personalized onesies and clothes of all kinds! And bottles & cups & blankets & everything I can think of to monogram or put a funny on... also home decor stuff for the nursery eventually. I have a feeling my kiddo won't ever wear a plain white onesie without me adding something to the front (or back) first. I used to sell my personalized stuff so I am excited for make it for my kiddo!
  • I crochet and knit (badly on the knitting) so I was planning on making a few things. Hats, booties, blankets. My mom is very crafty as well, more so than me so I don't want to go too overboard as I know she will.
  • I knit and can't wait to find out the gender so I can start making cute gender-specific items! I haven't found many patterns for cute gender neutral things to knit. excited though!!!
  • I crochet and since we're planning on doing a nerd nursery I'm going to try to find some fun amigurumi patterns to turn into a mobile. The hardest decision will be will it be all Star Wars/Firefly/Harry Potter etc. or will I mix it and include a little of it all.
  • I have been living on pinterest checking on things to make. Looking forward to getting crafty
  • I'm not very crafty, but I crochet quite a bit. I've made some things for friends and family, so I definitely will for our little bean too, just not quite yet. I have several patterns for stuffed crochet dinosaurs that I'm pretty excited to get started on.

  • I will most likely make a few blankets and quilts, basket/box liners, curtains, pillows....that kind of stuff. I'm not the best at sewing, but since i'm going to be spending more time with my mom this next year, i'm hoping we can bond over some baby crafts :)

  • I can knit basic baby hats. Im all over pinterest looking at nurseries and decor ideas. My mom is a seamstress and has made crib sheets for my nephew and a friends baby. So she will be making this little babe's bedding.
  • I don't knit or crochet but I have a ton of ideas pinned on Pinterest for DIY onesies, leg warmers and headbands:
