so DH was given 4 tickets to the Pu Vs Virgina Tech game in a couple of weeks as a baby present from a client. We live about 1.5 from PU. He was also given 4 tickets to a game on Halloween from his work as a sorta at a boy perk. Thing is DH is saying I can't go to either game even though I am the PU alum and fan. He is taking our boys and expects me to stay home and miss out on their first college football experience. I get the Halloween one given it is like 2 weeks from my due date but I don't understand why I can't go to the one in two weeks. I keep trying to talk to go about it and he cited concerns with all the walking and the. Sitting on hard bleachers and distance to the bathrooms. My question to you ladies is this am I just being stubborn? Or do you all think he is right and I can't see it because I desperately want to go and not be left at home while my family has fun without me? Would you continue to fight to go or let it go and hope there will be tickets next year? Thanks for your thoughts feeling like my hormones are keeping me from evaluating this with a cool head

Update: so after spending the last week arguing with DH about my ability to attend this game my Dad stepped in. He pulled me aside at my baby shower this weekend and told me if I would cut my DH some slack let this game go and let him go with my boys and husband instead he would make it worth my wild. Lol so along with promises from DH of tickets to my choice of game next season my Dad has arranged a prenatal massage, pedicure, and procured reservations for me and my Sil and mom at my fave restaurant all on him. I accepted and then had to laugh today as I sprained my ankle stepping in a hole in my backyard lol. My dad also promised to send lots of pictures and make it super special for my boys. I am still sad I won't be there but I guess you gotta know when to call an argument right

  • I'll be traveling to Boston (6 hour drive) in two weeks (I'll be 32+3 when we leave) for visiting family and a soccer game, and I have no qualms about it. Of course, it's also the weeken when the pope is visiting Philly and staying 5 min from our home, so I am glad to GTFO of town....
  • @gumby22c I am 31 weeks right now so I will almost be 33 weeks for the first game. I am a slow moving mama because of sciatica pain but I think if we just build in extra time. I do have a fair amount of swelling in my legs but my dr is pretty sure is due to heat but she did get on to me for doing to much and I got the you should be slowing down and resting more speech at this last visit but for most of the game I will be sitting. It just makes me mad that he is making decisions for my body although he claims he is making a decision for the health of our daughter. Like I said maybe I am too close to the situation or maybe my hormones are making me crazy I don't know lol
  • If swelling is your biggest issue, you could try wearing compression socks when you go to the game to help combat that. And staying hydrated really well. Personally I'd go to the game if I were feeling up to it that day. I fully admit my view is skewed because I will be flying internationally in a few days when I'm 33 weeks, so a 2 hour drive to a football game sounds like a breeze compared to that.

  • I would most likely go to the first one unless maybe Dr strongly opposed for some reason. I am hoping to be up for an early Oct steelers game with the in laws if all continues to go well.
  • I'm going to the Taylor Swift concert at 36 weeks that's 2 hours away from home. (I asked my doctor about it yesterday at my appt and she said as long as everything is going good she has no problem with it.) If I can go to a concert at 36 you should be fine going to a game at 33. I'm guessing you have 2 boys? If so it only makes sense that u guys all go as a family and use all 4 tickets. If you asked your doctor or one of their nurses and they said it was okay would that be enough to make him feel more comfortable about you going?
  • Ya, I'd be fighting that one. If you wanna go then you should go.
  • I think he is being unreasonable.
You should be the one to decide if you should go or not.
If you get tired and need to lay down, you can always go to the car and lay the seat back to sleep.  I am continuing to go to MLS games,I just go to the bathroom more and spend money on bottles of water instead of bottles of beer.  (DH likes it because he has a sober driver…)

  • If you get cleared by your doctor then there is no reason why your husband should overrule that.
  • I'd be saying eff that! There is no way I'd miss out on any of my boys firsts! Especially since it's not like your due the next day!

  • I'm going to a football game that weekend too. Tell your husband you're not going to miss out on your sons' first game, and you are still a ways away from your due date. You don't have to stop having a life because it's getting closer! Just do what feels comfortable for you that day. Go have fun!
  • I LOVE college football, and if you're medically okay to go, I'd go and tell your husband to shove it. it would make more sense for you to go to the game at 33 weeks then the game that's even closer to your due date. your husband's rationale is soup sandwich. I'd ask your doctor just to be 100% certain, but if you're good to go-- GO to the game. If I were in a similar position I'd fight like heck to go to the game and i'd make dang sure i was going.

  • I think you should be fine to go, but I would probably bring a seat cushion to use on the bleachers.
If there's something strange underneath the hood.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  If there's something weird and it don't look good.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  Immediately.  If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor.  It's for your health and your child's.

  • 1.5 I don't see an issue go. If you due the first week of November I might skip Halloween one. Most labors last longer than 1.5 and you could make it to hospital. I live 45 min from my hospital and with DD2 still waited till contractions where 5 min apart and Made it with no issues. I am personally going on a trip 3.5 hrs away at 33/34 weeks. See if Your dr will give you a go ahead to him or a prescription telling you to go. I know some Drs will do stuff like that.
  • Thanks ladies I am gonna fight this one! I am ready to duke it out this is my team and I haven't had any real issues just swelling. Gonna get some compression socks as recommended and a talk to my dr about it perhaps she will write me a script for Xanax for DH so he can chill out a bit. As for weather issues no worries I can always rest at my old sorority house and we have friends that teach there now who have offered up their ac couch. I am a college football nut to the point I have to record game day so I can watch it and my boys know that if they want to watch cartoons they can watch in the basement cause the living room tv is on college football all day! Also these are like 150 dollar tickets and even though DH has offered to get tickets for next season there is no way he is gonna pay for tickets of this quality. Thanks ladies for having my back on this one!
  • I have Pitt season tickets. I'm due November 9...I am hoping to be at the Pitt/ND game on November 7!

Oh and I drive 3 hours to and from my parents each weekend because my dad is sick. I do wear compression socks for the drive.

    Those things said....GO! :)

You totally have to go. You're going to have a great time!
  • PU is the only team I will watch! I'm so glad you are fighting it. Good luck!
  • I would go. I don't think your husband should make this decision for you. If you feel up to it, do it. If you have concerns clear it with your doctor.

Benadryl may have the same effect and you've probably already got it in the house. . . just sayin'. . .

  • I'm 31 weeks going to the ND/UVA game tomorrow (go Irish!). I did decide to skip the tailgating because it would put me on my feet for a few additional hours and put me about a 2 mile walk from the stadium. But I'm not worried about the actual game at all! People are just going to have to deal with letting me out of the row to go pee a few times. No one's going to talk back to the belly.
