Newbie & TTC

Hi Everyone,

Just thought I would take the time to make a post and introduce myself! I have been looking through these boards for a while now and decided to join. My husband and I have been married for four years now and are finally settled into a house so we are ready to start TTC! Of course we are both very excited and a little scared, as I am sure mostly everyone is when they decide to finally TTC. I have been on BC for almost the past 10 years. I have been looking through the boards and see a lot of women temp and track their ovulation while TTC. My husband and I decided we just wanted to try to let this come naturally at first. We are just throwing away the BC and seeing what happens. Has anyone else on these boards taken this approach? We just want to be able to relax about it and not stress ourselves out too much. I am 25 and my husband is 30 so we still have sometime in the way of baby making. Yesterday I stopped taking my BC and we plan to try right away, not wait a few months like I have seen also on the boards. I just want to know if anyone else has taken this approach or are we completely nuts for doing it this way! I read What to Expect Before You're Expecting and talked to my doctor and already been on prenatal vitamins for about 2 months now. I have cut back on my caffeine intake and cut out alcohol and fish, so I believe I am ready in that aspect for TTC.

Any input is always appreciated! I appreciate you all taking the time to read this and I hope I can contribute to other posts in the future!

Sounds like you are off to a great start! With my first we did it just like you. We weren't trying but we weren't preventing. And it happened very quickly. This go around it will be much different.
    Good luck!!! And welcome.

Hi! My story sounds very similar to yours. Except I'm almost 30 and he's 34. Also been on BC for 10+ years and stopped taking it since AF started on the 25. And this cycle I have no clue what to expect since I only know what my cycles are like on BC. But we decided not to temp or really track much or wait. Our first step is stop BC then maybe for a couple of months see what happens. I don't think it's crazy. I think it's all new so for me it makes sense to first see how it goes before diving into all the specifics. The only thing that is impossible for me to ignore is CM since it's right there. DH said we could aim for the best "week" but again not track it down to the day.
How is it going for you?

Thank you guys for replying to my post! I was beginning to think that maybe we should be doing all the tracking, but I agree we will see how this goes and if it doesn't happen then I will start getting into all of that!

Lotsofsunshine: It is good to hear that this way has worked for you in the past! Make me hopefully that possibly it will work for us and quickly too!

BVBabyHopeful: Glad to hear that you and your DH are trying the same way! We literally just started doing the BD without any form of BC so we will see what happens! As I said it is very exciting and a little scary but we are so ready for this next step in our lives! We aren't telling anyone in our families we are TTC so I needed an outlet to share it!

Welcome! I'm sort of the opposite-temping a few months before TTC because I think it's neat. That said, do what works for you guys!

When we decided to try, we just did. It happened quickly for us as well. Very unexpected as I am a diabetic and was 34 at the time. I thought those two factors alone would take more time.

Welcome! I plan to take the same approach on TTC #3 in a few months. My cycles have always been regular and I almost always ovulate at the same time every month. Good luck!

Hi and welcome! I took that same route back in 2013 when TTC and got pregnant on the 1st cycle, so you're not crazy for going that route; however, I was completely prepared for it to take a few months. Obviously we were lucky but I'm not counting on that happening again this time around. I'm getting my IUD out on Friday so we will probably do the same thing and 'see what happens.' There are a lot of ladies on the board who temp, though and it's really beneficial for them to get to know their cycle. GL to you!

Thanks everyone for the input! We will try it this way for a while and if it doesn't seem to be happening I will start tracking!

Hello! I'm new too, and doing the same exact thing. I was beginning to think that everyone temped. It's nice to know that others have decided to "see what happens."

    Hi,
I am new to The Bump and to TTC too! My husband and I got married last August and I went off BCP in April. We started TTC in June and are both 25.  I have been unemployed for the past month and TTC/babies is all I can think about. Finally starting to get back to work (teacher) and hopefully going to stop stressing. We have done the same as you just stopped BCP, took folic acid since march and controlled alcohol/caffeine consumption to help with fertility. We are both in the bridal party of my sister in laws wedding next July. I am really hoping to be pregnant asap so I have given birth before her wedding, however, I know there isnt too much else I can do right now. I really hate the 2WW.... I feel like I'm constantly either waiting for ovulation or for my period to show up or not...
