Swaddle Question

Hi everyone! Hope you all are faring well with your babies :).  Anyways, my 7 week old is consistently breaking out of his swaddle, no matter how tight we get it (Traditional swaddle).  We also got him the swaddleme brand blankets and he is starting to break free from those.  He can peek his hands out at the bottom and that is enough for him to startle himself awake.  Has anyone tried the zipadee-zip on a baby this young?  I know they are used to help transition from the traditional swaddle to eventually needing no swaddle...but do you think this is too young?  Should I keep trying to use the traditional swaddle or the swaddleme blankets?  I want to buy the zipadee eventually but I just don't want to right now if it will do me no good.  Any advice is welcome! Thanks in advanced.

We used 'love to dream' brand zip up swaddles from newborn stage - a godsend as DD would Houdini out of wraps within seconds.

No idea about the zip a deezip but we use woombies and they are fantastic

This ^^^ we have 2 of the little Houdini woombies and I doubt any baby could get out of it!

  • If you go to the woombie website and look in the sale section, they often have buy one get one free deals on certain ones.

  • Thanks for the advice so far! Im currently comparing the two suggested.  Do you guys have any fears with using these if your LO rolls over?  Mine is trying VERY hard to do so.  He scares me sometimes  @-)
  • I swear by the Miracle Blanket. It's like a baby straight jacket. He will not be able to get free, no way. Highly recommend it.
  • I love the halo sleep sack that swaddles in the newborn size!
  • I also use the halo sleep sack. Works great!
  • Have you tried just leaving his arms out? Our DD hates to be swaddled with her arms in. When we tried to put her arms in she would fight it until she got them free. She's sleeps much better if we leave her arms out.

    Same with our lo.

Can you safely leave out their arms in any swaddle blanket? We have the Summer Infant SwaddleMe velcro sacks, Patrick wiggles and worms his arms free every night and the fabric bunches around his neck. I worry all that bunching around his face will suffocate him if he struggles too much at night.. Leaving his arms free would be so much better than buying a whole new set of swaddle blankets. Those things ain't cheap!
  • the summer brand swaddle pod one works great. it zips all the way up like a cocoon. No way to break out :) It saved me for the first 4 weeks.
Always hold on to hope ❤
  • My LO gets out of swaddling and Swaddle Me's too. I got Love To Swaddle from Love To dream. They keep his hands up by his head (which is where he likes them) and zip so he cannot escape. They also have a zipper at the bottom for easy changing. He loves them and will calm down immediately once he knows he's going in it.

We just swaddle her old fashion style in a receiving blanket around her lower half. You can find YouTube videos on how to do it. The hospital said there was no SIDS concern as long as it was away from her face and a very thin blanket.

Hi everyone! I've tried leaving his arms out a few times...a few weeks ago.  He was definitely not a fan :(.  The way I had it was his upper half was out but I still swaddled his legs...nope not a fan.  I also swaddled his upperhalf and left his legs free at one time...sometimes he would cry and other times he wouldn't...but eventually he broke out of that with his hands.  He is surprisingly strong.  More than likely I'm going to go ahead and order the love to dream swaddle.  We'll see how that works out but if not then it may be time to endure a few sleepless nights and start weening him from the swaddle early    8-|
  • I also meant to reply I will try arms out again today during his nap.  Pray for me yall that he sleeps comfortably like that this time :)

These are awesome. I wish they came in bigger sizes too. My little chubster doesn't fit in them anymore. Now we use the same brands swaddle me . It's ok but I like the pod way better
  • We use the swaddle me mostly but have a few halo sacks as well. I find the halos to be too big and bulky. We have to swaddle arms in for a good sleep.

  • Hi everyone, just an update.  I ended up ordering the love to dream swaddle-up and the zippy.  The LTD came in first and he is currently in it.  BOY DID HE PUT UP A FIGHT but the LTD won in the end  :>.  He woke up once and that's just because he wiggled all the way down to the end of the crib near the rails and couldn't kick his feet anymore...he does that from time to time.  So I just moved him...then decided to wake him (cause i'm crazy like that) and give him a bottle.  He went right back to sleep with the help of a pacifier.  Praying for more nights like this one lol.  I'll post an update of our zippy adventures when it comes in the mail next week.
  • we stopped swaddling him at two weeks he was working his arms out constantly we just put them in my pajamas and wrap his feet in a tightly tucked blanket, he hates having his arms swaddled
