Doctor Vent

I am absolutely steaming right now. I had an appt at 3:50 today and got there on time, waited an hour for them to weigh me and check my blood pressure. Then another half hour for them to call me back to the room then another 20 minutes until the nurse (not even my doctor) came in and immediately told me I'm gaining too much weight. After talking about my diet she said she wasn't sure why, but then she asked what I was drinking and I said water and milk. I don't drink soda or juice and only occasionally have tea. She started asking how much milk and how often. Who knew milk wasn't healthy?! I am a little over the recommendation for weight gain at my weeks (15 lbs at 22 weeks) but not enough to be freaking out over me drinking milk. This is just the last straw with this place, I consistently wait no less than 45 mins for an appt that takes 30 seconds and always get the most ridiculous answers to my question. (Last time my actual doctor told me sleeping on my back could cause fetal death, despite numerous studies and evidence that it isn't bad). I'm going on vacation and as soon as I get back I will be at a new practice and they will be told exactly why I am leaving.
Sorry this is crazy long but I am so furious. She made me feel so bad that after waiting that long and barely making a hospital tour at 6, I'm starving and am feeling guilty about eating.

Re: Doctor Vent

  • That sucks. I agree - switch doctors. There is nothing I find more disrespectful than a long wait. It's like the doctor giving you a big F U and saying his or her time is more valuable than yours. I had a similar problem with my OB before I moved and on several occasions had to push back appointments with my clients because I was waiting over 2 hrs at the OB. Eventually I said something and they always either booked me for first appointment of the day or would call me when the doctor was seeing the patient directly before me and I would leave my office to drive over then.

  • 15 pounds is too much at 22 weeks?!? What!? I have had to wait more than an hour before at the doctors office... But it was because she had to rush to the hospital to deliver. I wasn't upset because if it were me in the delivery room I would want my doctor also. But I was also informed of where she was. And I was never rushed through my exams. That isn't right. I hope you move to a practice that seems to care more for their patients.
