Babies on the Brain

September - How is the waiting game going? TTC this month?

Y'all. I am exhausted from the start of school. Teacher life is a hard one this time of the year. I want to get back to this board more consistently. I have to say we have something great going on here.

So how are you? How's that wait treating you? Still planning out for the same month? TTC this month? Tell me all about it.

Re: September - How is the waiting game going? TTC this month?

  • Oh and we are still set for December or January to start TTC. I can barely think at the moment.

  • I am a teacher too and just completely wiped out. First graders require so much patience. :D However, I've fallen off the waiting to TTC bandwagon and have been trying to convince DH to start now. I know deep down it's not the best time for us but baby fever is rough. Doesn't help that SIL is due in December and there's so many fun baby things to look forward to with her.

  • Hi there! I work at a school too, but I am in administration. We are in our 6th week of school and geesh I am ready for a break, lol.

I posted earlier this week that baby fever has reared it's ugly head again and we are contemplating bumping up our timeline. Still undecided. I am pretty busy these days with a 70 hour work week and a lot of social commitments. We are even planning a trip to Europe. Yet, for some reason, any free moment I have makes my mind drift to starting a family. I don't think it helps working around kids all day. :(
  • @bmo88 I am on week 2 and am ready for a break!! ;)

  • I'm not a teacher, but both of my parents are, so I'm a witness to how crazy this time of year is. Sending my support to y'all! As for TTC, I got my nexplanon removed today!! I'm so excited  :D We were going to wait until November to start trying, but what's a few months early…right?  ;)

  • Baby fever is rough these days! I'm not in teaching but I can totally relate to all the crazy business of work right now. I totally agree with @bmo88 that even with so much to do, I've always got babies on the brain. It's all consuming. Originally planned on waiting until December/January to start TTC but I think for right now we are NTNP. If it happens it happens and if not when December comes we will really start trying. This waiting game can be total torture. Good luck with the wait ladies! :)

Also a teacher. SO TIRED. But tonight my best friend just told me she's expecting... I can't stop smiling!
So MH and I decided to start TTC this month!! Would love to have her as a pregnant buddy :)

ETA: @cookies754 convince your husband to come to the darkside! TTC now :) I used the terminology "not try, not prevent" and made a list of reasons why moving our date up 3 months wasn't a big deal and it worked on my commit-to-a-baby-phobic husband :) I'll be ovulating on our anniversary so I take that as a sign.
  • @LavenderBrown1018 I am glad you can be happy for your friend. I, personally, can not bring myself to be happy for anyone who is pregnant or has kids anymore. Yes, I know that sounds terrible of me but I loathe the fact that they can have a baby when I can't :/ Anyhow!! I don't think DH are trying this month as I am trying to get a consultation appointment with an RE instead of my OB and I just got an MMR vaccine today for my new job and am told you should not be pregnant or trying for at least four weeks after getting it so there went this cycle. :(

  • Hi! I'm getting my IUD out today so depending on what my Dr recommends, we could start trying immediately. I'm scared but also excited!

  • Good luck with back to school, teachers!

Waiting is going ok here. Super busy, but starting to get excited! I started prenatal a, which WAS exciting until I opened the bottle and saw how huge they are! I think the iron has helped my energy level though, so that's a nice bonus.
  • I am not a teacher but I have tons of friends from HS that went on to become teachers.  One from college just found out she is pregnant so she is having a crazy start to the school year!  My husband and I are both engineers so we both have long work weeks and lots of stress.

I am currently trying to convince DH that November would be a great month to start TTC.  I have 4 weddings coming up and I am in 3 of them.  I hate that I feel like I have to live my life around the weddings.  I actually had one bride tell me I was not allowed to be more than 6 months pregnant for her wedding because she didn't want to trip on placenta walking down the aisle.

Baby fever has been in full swing for a few years now so this whole waiting around is making me lose my mind.  I have been doing research and driving DH a little crazy in the process.  ;)

  • Lol you can add me to the ttc list!! We just started trying as of a few days ago :)
  • I really can't imagine what it's like being a teacher! Ya'll don't get all the credit you deserve! But I just started my second semester of grad school for counseling and with a 20 hour internship and going to classes full time I'm wiped out every night, yet baby fever still consumes me! And talk about all the pregnancy dreams ahhhh

As far as TTC for me, I got off birth control last month and we were NTNP, which my husband explained he would rather not get pregnant this month but next month is ok- he is being very particular and I'm ok with that since we weren't going to TTC until January and have since moved it to October! FX for a Halloween announcement to be made- but not counting on it ☺️
  • @Xstatic3333  Yeah I was pretty upset with her.  I mean it wasn't my plan to be super pregnant at her wedding anyway, but still.  She also said that it would be more fun for me if I was able to drink for her Bachelorette party... She doesn't really want kids, which is fine for her, but she knows I have been planning on kids since day 1 so I was pretty put off by what she said about it.  Oh well.  My plan is to be about 6 months pregnant anyway.  Time will tell.  But I am glad I am not the only one who thought it was a bit rude.

  • Back to school craziness has me beat! 27 grade 5/6s with lots of energy!

I was originally a next spring TTC but we recently bumped that up to October a few months ago! 1 month to go! Been off HBC since April. I still feel my body is working out the kinks but that's normal so I'm not stressing. My first chart was a mess (mouth breather when I sleep, here!) so I starting temping vaginally (grossed me out at first but its not that bad, actually!) and things are looking better for cycle 2.

The wait is KILLING me lately, although work is keeping me busy enough that its off my mind for some of the day. It's hard because all I think about is making babies and having a baby and it's going to be difficult to get through a busy school year if I can't focus my brain more :P

I wish it was that easy. I've tried all of those reasons but he's a firm believer in sticking with the plan. Wah wah wah. :-w

  • We are still planning TTC this month, in about a week or so.  I can't believe September is finally here, and we couldn't be more excited!

  • My husband and I leave for vacation in two weeks, and we're going to start TTC when we get home. I'm happy that this month is finally here, however I've been feeling a little frustrated this cycle! I went off the pill in January and luckily I've had regular periods since, but I completely missed my last period. I don't think I'm pregnant (we've been very careful and I've had several negative HPTs), but I had just started to be more aware of when I was ovulating etc., and now I feel like everything is off right before we want to start trying! I had a UTI around the time I would have ovulated in early August, so my only guess is that I didn't ovulate. I'm on CD 55, and I'm going to call a new OBGYN (mine conveniently just retired) if I make it past CD 62, which would be two cycles for me. Anyways, thanks for listening to me whine/vent.. My husband just doesn't get it, and we're keeping our baby plans a secret  ;)
  • The wait is so tough!  Everyday I feel like...am I there yet?! Our original plan was to wait until the new year, but I feel like that's going to be impossible!  But I do have to wait a few more months so I will be FMLA eligible (started a new job late July), so that is my only motivation to wait right now.  I think that this will be my last month taking the pill, so hopefully that will help my body prepare.  I can't even think about the possibility of not getting pregnant right away, but I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.  Haven't talked to my husband yet about trying as early as November... we'll see how long I can wait I guess! I have a lot of friends who will be having their babies in October and November, and I'm guessing that's going to make the fever exponentially worse ;)

  • I'm having such a hard time sticking to our timeline! We will start TTC in January.
  • @lovearoo yay! excited to have a BOTB turned TTC buddy! Have you been posting in TTGP? I posted my intro but have been busy since.
  • I am really getting anxious to start trying. I need to get through these first few months, and start tying the loose ends of my practicum year for my masters. The wait y'all. It is so hard. Plus, I'm excited to join the TTGP board. Soon enough.
  • @hookemnelson I intro'd on the TTGP board but I like it here so much better- I can keep up with the posts and know some of us frequent posters. I feel like the new kid in school over there lol.
  • The waiting game is SO HARD!! We start TTC in 2 months. I am really excited / anxious / nervous / scared to start TTC, but I am ready for the two months to be up already. :)

I'm also excited to join the TTGP board!! I just started prenatal vitamins and can't believe I just have two packs of BCP to go.

At least we have the wedding planning to distract us - that is a huge distraction. :)

  • @LavenderBrown1018 I like it here too, but I already know I need to up the charting game before hitting the TTGP board. I can't seem to get with it on my temp times. I'm having my polyp removal and d&c FINALLY this Friday - they rescheduled me twice already. After that I'm on the hunt for a new OBGYN. I wish could go to my old one (I had my son with her - she was amazing), but she is across town. Across town in Dallas is not a good idea. So much to do.
  • @hookemNelson I hear ya. Going from summer to teacher life again really effed up my last cycle's charting. I'm basically going to have to throw that month out, it was that bad. Ugh. So now I'm waking up at 5 AM to temp.
  • @lovearoo yay! excited to have a BOTB turned TTC buddy! Have you been posting in TTGP? I posted my intro but have been busy since.

Yep, I've been posting! Though more so in private groups. I do like it over there - I love the snark! It's a fun group :P
  • The wait is a struggle right now. We will start actively TTC in January and I am really excited. DH and I are going to be godparent's come Dec/Jan and I think that has made it even worse. I'm just enjoying my nightly glass of wine while I can.

  • Hi y'all! @HookEmNelson - I think we are neighbors. #dfdubclub

We were TTC for one cycle in July, and then out of nowhere I got offered a great new job. So now we are waiting until January so I'll be FMLA eligible. Truth be told, I was almost sad to get this new job, just because of the TTC factor. Now I'm a little more okay with the wait.

I'm temping and charting now to avoid
...so hopefully by January I'll be a pro at pinpointing the fertile window. :)

  • @Pupatella we're on the same TTC schedule! I just started taking folic acid and vitamin D, what have you been taking that you recommend?
  • We weren't really trying to conceive this month, but we happened to BD in the beginning of my fertile window, so we'll see :)  This has been my second month off the Pill and this has been my first month ovulating in a long time.  My DH and I just got married at the end of June, I was on the Pill/Nexplanon for several years.  I was a little worried that my cycles would take several months to regulate, but everything looks to be normal!  We're going to start actively trying in November.  Best of luck to all you ladies in your two week wait!  If you haven't discovered Pinterest yet, it's a great distraction for when you're counting down the days to POAS and get your BFP :)
