Heartburn

has anyones heartburn recently appeared again? Mine has kicked back up and it happens with anything I eat. Is there anything anyone does to help with this?

Re: Heartburn

  • Ranitidine. Totally safe!

  • Heartburn has started again for me, too. I will have to return to smaller meals and less acidic foods. Regurgitating food all day is so nasty. I am going to seek the advise of my midwife when I see her.

  • Ranitidine and tums/Rolaids on hand at all times. Unfortunately, the acid levels in your stomach are all out of whack, and all the relaxing hormones flowing through your body are relaxing the sphincter that usually keeps food/acid out of your esophagus. It's probably not going to be going anywhere anytime soon. :/ Ranitidine and tums and stuff will help, but nothing will make it go away entirely.
  • My gastroenterologist told me when your pregnant your digestive system gets squashed and that makes heartburn more common the more baby grows. Just keep your tums close, they are your best friend :)
  • I've been getting heartburn in the evenings so I'll make a cup of hot peppermint tea. It helps a bit but doesn't make it go away completely. I just think it's better than relying too heavily on Tums or Rolaids.

I agree that it's best to try a more natural route, however, as someone who has suffered from heartburn for a long time, I'd advise that no one ignore it.  It's horrible for your esophagus and can lead to rear dental cavities (I know this from experience....).

  • I take a tums as soon as I notice it. I also find ice cream to be very refreshing.
  • My doctor put me on prilosec and I'm still chowing down on tums soft chews (so good). I'll be asking him next week if there's anything more I can do. Even drinking water gives me reflux!
  • I take Zantac twice a day and tums as needed. Zantac is a category b drug, I feel comfortable taking it
  • I had heartburn 24/7 so far only relief I've found is by drinking hot chocolate no medications or tums rolaid or prescription worked for me.
  • Kevita, Kevita, Kevita. Seriously. I don't take OTC drugs of any kind and used to keep tums next to my bed. Now I drink a couple kevitas (a fermented coconut water probiotic drink) a few times a week and I have zero heartburn. It's a miracle beverage and a lifesaver.
  • Thanks ladies! So far I always take tums but I'm afraid of taking to many, even though I take the right amount suggested. But I feel sometimes if I take to many it wouldn't be safe so I try to stay away from them as well. But I'll definitely look into the other things bcs even from drinking water I feel so horrible. Hope everyone else who has it goes away as well. It's no fun!
