Lack of sleep is driving me nuts! RANT

In addition to the 3-4 pee breaks I have to take each night, which take me 30min to an hour to fall back asleep, I can't seem to go to bed before midnight or 1am and have to be awake by at least 7am. I'm running on pumpkin spice coffee and fumes right now, at 39+5, wondering how I'll have the energy to deliver when the time comes. And since I'm planning an unmediated birth, I don't see a nap in my future either. I literally shopped for 6 straight hours today and am still not tired. :(. Rant over, thanks for listening.

Re: Lack of sleep is driving me nuts! RANT

  • This. Is. So. True.

I literally cry in the middle of the night sometimes while I pee. I'm so tired of peeing. I just want to sleep...
I'm scared I'm going to go into labor after a sleepless night and be too tired to do anything. :(
Even when I try to take naps during the day, I pee every few mins so it's not helpful..

  • @bethanyjane26 that is my fear! After I posted I decided to stop wasting time and went and did the stack of dishes in my sink and a pile of laundry! I now have 6 baskets to fold tomorrow! OMG! On a happy note, just lost my MP after a very crampy evening.

  • I have so much laundry to do right now. And no motivation/energy to do it. :(
  • Yes! Can't sleep well once I do fall asleep (usually around 4am) but still not tired enough to fall asleep when I get into bed the next night and so the cycle repeats. Also can't turn my baby brain off once I lay down. So frustrating!
  • Just wait until you have the baby! I thought I got hardly any sleep before when I was pregnant, but now with a one-week-old at home, I'm lucky if I get four hours of sleep a night total! The nice thing is once I hit the pillow I'm out ,,, Just wish I could hit the pillow more!

As for making it through delivery on hardly any sleep, the adrenaline and excitement alone will help you pull through it the day of and the next day! My worst day was the full day after the baby was born when I was running on one hour of sleep with no sleep in sight (sleeping in the hospital was nearly impossible with docs and nurses coming in constantly to check on me and the baby).
  • I'm in the same boat on the no sleep, I don't recall it being this bad during my first pregnancy. i'm ready to pull my hair out. I've even had my doctor prescribe me some natural pills to help calm me down at night to facilitate sleep but except for the first night (where I was going on a 2 week stretch of 3/4 hrs sleep per night) they don't seem to be working. I'm going for a massage today to see if that helps me relax.

Now as to whether it's worse once LO arrives, personally I slept so much better once LO was here. Yes it was initially for only 3 to 4 hr stretches but I slept soundly and in any position I liked! My mind was just much more peaceful.

    We got this mommas!
  • So sick of peeing 4-5 times a night.. usually I can go back to sleep but right now it's almost 2 am and I've been up for about an hour. I have to wake up for work at 5:30.. ugh!
  • I just had a complete crying snotty meltdown because I'm SO tired. My 2 yo has been sleeping terribly for months and I'm just so tired. Tonight she woke up twice and now I'm wide awake. I have no idea how I will do this once the baby arrives. Im seriously considering taking a day off work so I can sleep.
  • Right there with you all! I get up to pee every hour on the hour, so sleep does not happen at my house. I try every day to take a nap, but if I actually fall asleep I can only stay asleep for about 30 minutes. I'm so tired! I just want my little princess to get here so I can try to sleep for at least an hour on my back instead of on my sides! I hope all of our babies get here soon so we can finally get some relief. Good luck mommas!
  • Oh my god. This is me. It's terrible. I owe seriously 5-6 times a night. And then I'm so thirsty I chug water. Then I'm wide awake and can't sleep. Then at 7 when I'm exhausted and ready for sleep my son's ready to get up. I know I'm gonna be up a lot with babe when she gets here but at least it won't be bc I have to pee. So so sick of it. We don't have too much longer!
  • I wish I had sleeping problems only because of having to pee. I'm up until 3:30-4 every night because of false labor and not being able to sleep through it. :|
  • My boys (ages 2 and almost-4) keep waking me up this week! I woke up to my 4 y/o wiggling around in my arms last night because the kid can't be still and then my 2 y/o keeps waking up and crying randomly, which he never does. And nothing ends up being wrong. I think they sense changes coming lol.

  • What is sleep?!
  • Ugh, the worst is the step that comes before having to pee numerous times through the night - flipping over my big belly and trying to get out of bed is exhausting and requires tremendous effort at this point!
