So often our pregnancies become all about us and the upcoming baby. But what about our awesome hubby's and SO? What has yours done for you lately? What makes them great? How are they preparing for baby?
My husband is the owner of a fence building business. He is basically a one man crew and has part time helpers as needed. And he does all the behind the scenes stuff for the business himself as well. This man works harder than anyone else I know, mostly 10-12 hour days. This week I'm sure hasn't been fun for him as it has been incredibly humid and in the upper 80s and lower 90s. I know he is trying hard to get all of his fence jobs caught up so he can take a few days off once our boy is born. And he has had such a remarkable year of business that he is taking the winter off to be a stay at home dad. I couldn't be more proud of him and the business he has grown.
On top of all of that he has done more for me around the house than ever since I'm getting closer to the end of pregnancy. He has almost completely taken over our animal chores and helps me lift heavy things that I normally could have managed. This weekend where we live is the world famous Auburn Fall Car Auction and Show. Because of that there are garage sales galore and several flea markets. I'm an avid garage saler as I love adding to our huge antique and vintage collection. Hubby gave me $100 for spending on stuff this weekend and has even told me of a few good garage sales he has scoped out.
This man truly is my best friend. I couldn't ask for a better husband and know that he will be an amazing dad. I'm excited to be a mom but I'm more excited to see him with our son.
The other day DH texted me the exact number of hours until our girls are born. He also goes out on Saturday mornings and brings me coffee and donuts in bed, cleans when I just can't stand any longer & tells everyone how I've been so great during this pregnancy. He's the best!!
I love how my husband kisses the belly and talks to the baby everyday before he leaves for work. He's been so good about helping me relax at night with a massage or setting all my pillows up or making sure I have tumbs next to my bed. I love how he's been telling me to kick my feet up and relax and not worry about getting everything done during the day because growing a baby is the most important job yet. I love how he sits next to me when I take a bath at the end of the day. He'll just chill out on the floor and chat with me about anything and everything. I love how he tells me I'm "more beautiful now because I'm carrying our child". When I'm down and feeling huge he always knows what to say to make me smile.
He's totally blown me out of the water, watching him and how tender hearted he is with me and the baby. Makes me overjoyed to think I'm bringing a baby into the world with him. He's my absolute best friend in the entire world.
My hubby does a lot with cooking and cleaning and haven't pumped my own gas in like a year. Love when he talks to my belly and our son hears his voice and starts kicking. The other day I was talking about how I wanted a wedding band so my regular wedding ring which sticks up pretty far doesn't scratch the baby and he come home with this. I was totally surprised.
My husband came home with an industrial size bottle of TUMS tonight! He does a lot for me but after a sleepless night and a fire breathing day this tops the list at the moment! (He also goes to work everyday, gets as much overtime as he can now, comes home and doesn't stop. He has been working in the nursery like crazy to build a custom closet organizer, cut and paint all the new trim. He cleans the house, does the dishes and let me have the last of the carrot cake the other day!). He's a keeper!
Married:09/27/14
Baby N-Born:10/29/15 Our Angel: EDD: 05/11/17. MC at 6 weeks Baby #2- EDD: 07/18/17
My wife has been putting in a lot of overtime and all of that $ is going into savings. We've got a good nest egg now (she's been saving the overtime since February).
She also has been obsessed with monogrammed and customized stuff off Etsy. While I don't think we "need" that stuff, I think it's really cute how she wants to find all this nice baby stuff for our little guy.
She's also been reading Goodnight Moon to my belly at night. It's really sweet.
She put together the armoire and hopefully this weekend will get the crib and dresser done. She's really excited!
My husband truly deserves a medal. I've been in bedrest for the past 2 weeks and he has done EVERYTHING for our 18mo old son and me. He works long days then comes come, makes dinner, does laundry etc. feeds and bathes DS and puts him to sleep. Additionally he attended our son's preschool orientation meeting (2 1/2 hours!) after a full day of work Wednesday and last night spent all evening/night at the hospital with me because they thought I might be in preterm labor (turns out things are ok, just still on bedrest). On top of all this, DS has not been sleeping well and my husband takes all of the middle-of-the-night and 5am wake-ups. He's truly the best. I don't know what I'd do without him.
My husband helps rub lotion on the parts of my belly I can't reach he dose the house work and the laundry he helps with our 2year old he even helps me when I can't get my pants on lol and yes I have trouble plus he works 40hr+ a week I am so lucky I couldent appreciate him more!
We are lucky Mommas! My husband talks to her every morning and night which melts my heart, brought us breakfast in bed thursday and is currently scrubbing the bathtubs!
My husband has been amazing! Supportive & excited! It melts my heart when I hear him talk about how he can't wait for our little girl to be here. He will be an amazing father! He has done a lot during my pregnancy! Put up with my emotions, been the calm & reassuring voice I needed to hear, springing into action when I had a painful migraine or leg cramps during the night, and done more things around the house! Most recently though might be the thing I will always remember! He had to work our state fair and I decided not to go for the first time ever. I was feeling bummed so he offered to bring me back my favorite food, a pronto pup. Well, the night he was supposed to, he forgot! It wasn't a big deal to me but he had already made arrangements for a co-worker to bring one home the following night! Then he met him in the parking lot of the movie theater at 10 PM that night to get the pronto pup for me! Love him so much!
So many good husbands out there - we are lucky ladies!
I am amazed with how in love with our LO he is already - he will literally just blurt out "I love her so much" when he sees and feels kicks. He is so attentive and protective and has said this pregnancy is the best thing to ever happen to him. I might need to fight for attention once she's here!
We have a 1yr old and he gets up in the middle of the night to change her diaper and get her a bottle. He also takes her grocery shopping on days when I'm too weak to go along. He has also been working from home the past few months and will for the first few weeks after baby is born so that he can help. And finally last week he came home with a pack of newborn diapers because I said I wanted to feel more prepared!
He rubs my feet each night for a long time. He brings me breakfast in bed. He gets excited showing me how to use the car seat we bought for baby. He tells me I look beautiful each time I say I'm fat, which is several times a day. I love my hubby!
I love this thread! DH and I are pretty young- both 21- but that hasn't stopped him from being successful! He worked in a maximum security prison for 2 years, and this year left that job to go to the Police Academy where we live. The department he is working for had 4 positions they were interviewing for, and only hired 1 person-my hubby! He's the youngest officer they've ever employed here, and they have high expectations for him. He graduates towards the end of this month and I'm so proud!
At home, he has been so sweet. I love his belly kisses, and when I am absentmindedly rubbing my belly he will reach over and tickle or rub it for a minute. When we go to bed I get into my semi-comfy position and he snuggles up behind me to feel baby kicking (she always kicks when his hand is near her. I don't know how she knows it's him!)
Also, he scrubbed our tub and fixed the broken hot water knob, AND sealed the drain so I could take a bath with my lush bath bomb. It took him longer to fix it than it took me to bathe. most recently, I have had a nasty cold, and ZERO energy. He grabs anything I need, tissues, medicine, Chapstick. I love him!
My hubby has been amazing. I know I haven't been the most pleasant person to deal with. Between the morning sickness at the beginning and the emotion roller coaster I've been on now, he's been a trooper. He looks at all the little clothes even if I've shown him 18 times already. He helps me out of the bathtub so I don't fall. He brings me snacks. He snuggles with my belly. I could go on and on about how wonderful he has been. I make sure to tell him on a regular basis.
DH has been top notch throughout my pregnancy. He's been "nesting" for a month. I don't think I'll have anything left to do when I get the urge!
And this week we went to l&d class. I didn't know if he'd think it was hooey, but he got really into it (maybe a little too into it). He's checking up to make sure I'm doing the exercises, timing my "contractions" for the breathing exercises, and "practicing" massaging me while I focus on a focal point (which is sometimes the back of my eyelids)
My husband has been great! I fell on Wednesday going down our stairs. He rushed home took me to the hospital and stayed calm. My hand is bruised to the bone but the little guy is just fine. My husband stayed overnight with me to ensure I was ok and 5h3 baby was ok. He went to work and left to come bring me home. Yesterday, he checked on me several times and when he got home he took care of me and rubbed my back, legs, and shoulders. He has been super supportive and I couldn't ask for a better partner. This week we have a growth scan and find out of I will have a c-section or not due to my health issues. He's amazing and calming.
Shout out to DH who's in the kitchen currently cooking breakfast while I Bump. He surprised me with pumpkin iced coffee the other evening which had me in tears. He also woke up with me last night during my insomnia and had toast with milk with me at 4am while talking about baby. He's the epitome of Bestie.
This post is awesome. Makes me really thankful for my husband. He's such an advocate for me and pretty much treats me like a queen. Lol which I don't always deserve haha. He works full time and I've been unemployed most of my pregnancy. He's very much a 'family' guy so his Excitement for our twin girls to arrive is what helps me to keep going strong. One morning I was having really strong contractions and he was worried but I told him to go to work anyways. Well I fell asleep until 2pm and woke up to 30 missed calls. By the time I got back to him he sent my MIL over to check on me. He gets so worried. Although I was annoyed that day, I really appreciate it now lol.
Yesterday I really wanted to change my toenail polish before our maternity photos, but was struggling with just getting the old stuff off. So my hubby told me to put my feet up and he painted them for me *don't mind the swollen ankles*
I have been on strict bed rest for about month. My husband won't let me lift a finger! He does all the cooking, grocery shoppong, laundry.... everything! He finds time to rub my feet and back. Makes sure I have all my food cravings satisfied. He has been there for every doctor appointment as well! But the look on his face when he puts his hand on my belly and feels our precious baby girl move...... that makes me fall in love with him all over again.
I'm crazy OCD about the way things are organized and the way things get done in general. When I was feeling more up to it (seems like a LONG time ago, haha!) hubby let me have complete control over all of it and let me organize and decorate and pick out everything the way I wanted to. Now that I feel pretty darn awful he's, without me asking, stepping up and taking over a lot of the responsibilities around the house and telling me to go lay down and rest. He's forcing me to just stay at home and do nothing on at least one of my days off instead of kicking into over drive like I normally do. Yesterday he even helped paint nursery furniture despite not understanding my reasoning for it and when I say "helped" he did most of it and kept telling me to take a break inside (it's been disgustingly hot out). AND I receive comission at work and I was saying how maybe I could put an extra car payment down with it this time around he said
"... Or you could get something nice for yourself instead since you worked hard for it."
My hubby told me that I am now the #2 female in his life. I was confused at first and then he explained that our baby girl is #1. He loves her so much already. He is going to be such a wonderful and caring dad!
Like PP, he has also been telling me to go lay down while he does laundry, makes dinner and puts things away in the nursery. I feel so loved and well taken care of.
my husband is awesome this weekend i sat on the couch while he vacuumed the entire house, mopped the kitchen floor and scoured the sink. i felt so bad and lazy not helping, but i can't move the furniture in the living room to vacuum or carry the vacuum up and downstairs anymore and don't want to use bleach to scour the sink because the smell makes me very lightheaded right now. he also hasn't let me clean the bathroom in months because he wants me to stay away from the chemicals! we usually split chores 50-50 but he has been taking on everything. i've tried to cook and do dishes (we don't have a dishwasher!) more often to make up for it but sometimes i am exhausted! i made a spaghetti squash lasagna last week and then made a meat sauce for ziti but after being on my feet for 2 hours cooking and doing dishes i couldn't spare the energy to get the rest of the baked ziti stuff together. so he did it for me and did the remaining dishes! he is such a hard worker... i am so lucky to have him, and my little guy will be so lucky to have him as a dad!
@photomomma0488 my hubby did the same for me last night! Doesn't it feel great? I think he did a better job than I have this summer... He even buffed and filed them for me, so it could "be like the real thing" I can't reach my toes anymore to do it, and I'm trying to save $$ and haven't gone to get them done in MONTHS (I'm going to once I hit the 37wk mark I think...)
Spent most of my weekend laying around, snuggling on my littles and napping off and on. Dh did most of the house cleaning and almost all of the laundry. Love that man.
First DH when about bought me a snoogle shortly after I started having the "I can't sleep b/c belly is in the way!" issues, then he got me wonderful spray that keeps the aches and pains away, and even if he is half asleep he will spray my back down and rub it so I can sleep.
He keeps telling me how I'm brave or a champion, or just "you're going to be a good mom/mommy" at random moments (admittedly after he's been up the shenanigans and I have to take a breath ans ask him to stop) {normally I love the crazy, but sometimes the hormones don't}
Little moments of helpfulness, even if its just letting the dog in or going to get something that I could still easily do, but he wants to do it for me.
