Bed sharing and belly rolling

Hi.  DD is 14 weeks, and just started to roll back to tummy.  She's been sleeping consistently on her side/back beside me at night (like, right beside me, MUST BE TOUCHING MOMMY AT ALL TIMES).  For experienced moms, do I need to worry about her flipping on her tummy and sleeping with me?  Will she keep sleeping as is, or do co-sleeping babies not tend to flip to their bellies?  I worry more about her being able to move out of the way of my side/arm if I move at all in my sleep.  She can turn her head side to side on her belly, but can't flip belly to back yet.

  • I think you'll be fine. My daughter is the same (she now 2.5 years). She always has to be touching me as well. Your mommy instincts will kick in. I always felt my daughter at the slightest movement. She sleep all over the place and has since she became more mobile.

  • I wouldn't worry about it either--even if she did flip to her tummy, I'm not understanding what the issue would be, even if she were on her belly next to you? Your moving might bump her? In general, my daughter also stayed mostly on her back, even after she could turn both ways... But I know I definitely move a lot!!
  • DS is just over 2 and he's always been a back or side sleeper, never really rolled to sleep on his belly in our bed. Though he would on occasion when he napped in his crib. He always had an arm flung out to have contact. I wake up sometimes with a *pat pat pat* as he's searching for me. You'll wake up if your baby moves, you're more aware of their movements than you think you are in your sleep, its amazing.
