Removing your rings. ( do it sooner than later)

My Advice is to remove your rings as soon as you can because once your fingers begin to swell, you'll  wish you had. The trick to removing your rings ,  is to cut sodium from your diet and drink eight or move glasses of water day.  In the morning when you wake up or before you go to bed at night,  raise your hand above your head for fifteen minutes. Then ice your ring finger for five minutes. Then lubricate your finger with vegetable oil  (or olive, whatever you have) then remove.  Warning it's going to hurt. Just breath through the pain.

  • Fortunately I'm 39+2 and can still wear my rings no problem during the day, but I always take them off before bed. I forgot once last week and found myself in the bathroom MOTN doing the dental floss trick which also works as long as the swelling isn't crazy severe. Just take a long piece of dental floss and wrap it tightly around your finger from just about the ring(s) to just above your knuckle. Leave it for a few seconds, remove fast, and then slip your rings off very quickly before your finger puffs up again. Usually though within an hour of waking I can put them back on again and haven't had any issues with daytime swelling so far.

  • I never had to take mine off for either pregnancies but good advice.
  • My fingers haven't swollen yet but I am constantly playing with my ring to make sure it doesn't get stuck.

I had to stop wearing mine at 35 Weeks :(
  • Still wearing mine at almost 38wks & I've had no problems.
  • I'm 36+3 weeks and just checked and it was kind of painful to remove my engagement ring but wedding band still feels fine. So I'll just wear my band for now. I consider myself lucky as I have friends who bought fake rings just to have something on because they could no longer wear either and felt "naked" lol
  • I took mine off around 26 weeks and bought a pretty and inexpensive impostor ring to wear in its place. I know of two people who have had to get theirs cut off...no thank you!
  • Dang ladies! I had to take mine off around 20 weeks.. I replaced it with an inexpensive plain band. I really miss wearing my actual wedding rings!

I took them off when I noticed that my ring finger had the slightest purple tinge to it..... o.o
at 31 weeks. I would wake up in the morning, go to the bathroom and when I would start washing my hands they would me sooo sore! I could not massage them all properly b/c I wear a band and engagement ring (which is small but still in the way) and I found the best motion was lacing my fingers together and rubbing/squeezing. which became more effective once i took the ring off.
I wear them on a chain around my neck, but I feel so weird not seeing them on my hand.

I did take them off in week 30 but put them back on after my fingers felt better......big mistake for me! when I tried to get them off again it was much harder. I iced and used oil, (I didn't even think of putting my hand over my head, I will remember that for next time.)

Oh! Also, when I get home from work I will add a youtube video of what an engineer did with floss to get a ring off (funnily enough I can be on here while at work, but no youtube, slows the servers down)
