Infertility

very low progesterone

hey guys, my DH and I have been TTC for almost a year now and have been going to a womens clinic since late January. I have been on clomid and letrozole, both with no results. each month my progesterone levels have been very low, this past month being only a little over 1 when recommended is 8-10. my question is has anyone used natural remidies or methods to raising progesterone levels without medication?

Re: very low progesterone

  • Hi there @brady0517! I too have very low progesterone (can't remember my number but it was very low). I have tried acupuncture to help it and was unsuccessful. I've heard that lowering stress and making diet modifications can help that too but I think its unclear how effective that is. I have to take the suppositories to get my levels up. Sorry I wish I had better feedback for you. But wanted to say good luck!! :)

  • Are you seeing an OB or an RE? With Progesterone that low, it sounds like you are not actually ovulating. Are they doing the check 7dpo (not just CD 21)?? If you are ovulating, why have they not added Progesterone supplements? How many Letrozole and Clomid cycles have you done?
  • They are just doing the CD21 test, 3 Clomid and 2 letrozole, she wanted to put me on a higher letrozole but I said I wanted a second opinion first
  • @brady0517 Have you gone to an RE? That's probably your best course of action as they are the only ones who are qualified to do infertility treatments in full. They will likely want you taking a progesterone supplement. I am on the suppository. They're really not that bad.

  • I am on progesterone cream starting on the day I ovulate until the start of AF.  I apply it (2.5 mg) to my inner arms twice a day.  The naturopath sold it to me as a "Bioidentical hormone that my body would absorb better".  Whatever… it works!  My cycles are finally regular after 1 1/2 years!  I have to get re-tested this month to see if my levels have gone up.  Good luck :)

  • I have extremely low progesterone too. Last level at 0.4 and not ovulating on my own. ( Taking clomid) RE has me taking supplements. I also was doing the Accupuncture but didn't seem to be doing much for me! Unfortunately with numbers so low a supplement will be required in order to has a successful pregnancy :(
