Freaking out over low Hcg level in beta

edited September 2015 in Infertility
hi all - yesterday I saw my RE for my beta at 14dpiui . The nurse called and said I have a low positive with an Hcg level of 15 . I immediately took a home test and it wouldn't show anything . I continued to test all day like a crazy person and faint lines started showing . This morning the lines are gone . I know I need to just calm down and see what my blood test tomorrow shows but wondering how many people have been through this and what the outcome has been ? I am fearful its chemical since the lines should be getting darker . Of course my husband is ecstatic we got our first positive but I am beside myself feeling like something is wrong . Don't know if it's just my fear getting the best of me . The next 24 hours are going to go by so slowly .

  • Also, with the faint lines, your urine could have been more diluted or you used tests the needs more HCG.  Where they all the same brand test over the course of the few days?  Digis need more HCG to show up.
  • Yes they were all the same brand and they listed that they detect Hcg levels of 25 . I guess maybe I shouldn't freak out about one not having a line ... I had already peed so much on sticks maybe it was diluted . I have to stop my testing .

  • Good luck. I would tell you to try to r lax but I know that is impossible!! I have had such a faint line with both of my children in the beginning that you could barley see it and it took a while for it to get darker! FX for doubled beta tomorrow!
  • I'm going through the exact same things. My level was a 12, I went for a second blood test tonight and will get results tomorrow. I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'm going crazy myself.
  • thank you for the encouragement @alexiskiriluk that does give me some hope!! maybe this little one is just a little slower.. which is fine by me as long as my numbers go up!! :)

@jaqcap17 I'm sorry you are going through this as well. This is by far the hardest thing I have had to go through during this whole process so far. After hearing and seeing negative negative negative all the time I am shocked and encouraged by the fact that I heard "positive' for once. I really don't want my hope to be crushed tomorrow. I hope you are staying as relaxed as you can (easier said than done, right?). My husband keeps telling me to chill out but I just can't. It's consuming my thoughts! Did you home test at all?? I think I'm gonna stay away.

  • please put the tests away!!  You will drive your self crazy.

I know, that is easy for me to say, I would probably be doing the same thing with a "weak positive"

    Try to relax tonight.

  • Thank you @babyexpress . Yes after waking up at 4:30 and taking a test because I couldn't sleep I have officially lost my mind. So no home tests for me. What will be will be I suppose. No amount of home pregnancy tests is going to change my outcome I guess.

  • Oh @mskeenan, I'm sorry you're going through this.  Good luck tomorrow.  Please let us know.  I have my fingers crossed for a good strong beta and you can just chalk this up to your little one being a late implanter.  :)

  • @mskeenan I have been home testing every morning! They are all negative.  I'm thinking this doesn't bode well for me, I'm trying to stay calm but I'm not doing a very good job.  I cried so many times on Sunday, and I woke up at least 6 times last night just thinking about it.  Just like you, I was so excited just to hear the word positive that now I am reeling.  Hoping for no let downs.
  • I got my second HCG level today. It was 27... which is about double what it was two days ago. So that's a good sign, right? The nurse said its "still slow to rise" so I'm not sure if I should get excited yet. I have to go back in two days again for another test. Ah!!! @Jaqcap17 how are you doing?? Any word?

Friday morning . I am hopeful but cautiously . I'm going to try to distract myself so I can stop obsessing and peeing on sticks that are still faint .

  • @mskeenan so as I sit here and read through your post I can't help but to say I feel you. With the obsessing and being awake. I had one left over test from my last cycle and decide when I woke up at 2 am that I should take it when it gad a faint positive I just keep checking it. Like it might cage and be more distinctive.....lol I know you are watching your levels to make sure they keep doubling. I keep looking to see if they are. I am praying for you. Good luck and as always keep us posted.
  • Thank you @gkamerman78. I heard back today and they said my pregnancy is a chemical one. I am devastated. I don't even know how to deal with the emotions I have been through this week.
