Nexplenon

this is probably just more a
Of a vent than anything because everyone reacts so differently. But I got my Nexplenon inserted on August 12, and that day I had started my period. Well I'm still bleeding 3 weeks later. I've read you can spot/bleed for months before it stops. But almost every forum I've read on, everyone says they only had a few days here and there of no bleeding, even after a year! Im really hoping it stops soon and my period will stop as well or at the very least go back to normal. Anyone choose Nexplenon..?

Re: Nexplenon

  • I have it too. I got it placed at my 6 week appointment. I'm now over 15 weeks PP and I'm still spotting daily. This week was actually the worst as it was closer to period amounts for a few days. :(

I hear that docs are resistant to removing it prior to at least 2-3 months of it being implanted. I have an appointment next week so if I'm still bleeding I will try to have it removed. I have a feeling they won't "let" me though.

  • I am going to get mine later this month. Some have said if you have it inserted anywhere in the first three or four days then it may help the hormones better than going on day one. Which is actually a relief because every cycle I seem to start on a Friday night. Hopefully you guys will have a good experience soon.
  • I wish I had just waited until my periods actually returned! I keep getting paranoid that it's some weird PP related bleeding but I'm pretty sure it's not. I just have no idea what to expect from my body now that it's returning to its non-prego state. Oh well, too late now!
  • I had the nexplanon after my first child. I had it placed maybe two years after she was born. I kept mine for the full three years. I had mine placed a week after a cycle and never had another cycle. I would spot maybe once every 4-5 months but after that I was cycle free. I am actually looking forward to getting another one placed. I'm waiting for my child to turn 6-7 months old maybe longer I don't want it to effect my milk supply. I say I stopped having a cycle but with every birth control I've ever been in I eventually stop having cycles. My body must be very sensitive to the hormones.
  • I got mine at my 6 wk check up. Had a period a couple weeks later that lasted 3 weeks. Haven't had one since. I'm 15 wks pp.
  • I got mine at 5 weeks check up, had a light period for 3 days and nothing since. LO is 17 weeks.

  • I had it inserted on the last day of my period in July. I started bleeding August 9th (4 days before my period should have started) and am still spotting every day since . But is doing a great job of keeping me not pregnant and I don't have to remember it

Any undated on your bleeding. I'm just curious. I haven't been out on birth control yet and I spot almost every other day. So your spotting might not be contributed to the nexplanon it might be just your body. This was baby number 2 for me and I didn't do this with my first
  • Update: @lestes1121 I had started my period in July and it last a normal amount. So I'm pretty sure this is due to the Nexplenon. And I'm still bleeding.
  • I've FINALLY stopped bleeding at 16 weeks. Hoping it sticks!
