Anyone else feeling this?

edited September 2015 in October 2015 Moms
So this is my second child, and I figured I would pretty much know what most of what I'm feeling is this time around. Wrong.

When DD went head down I didn't feel anything. Didn't see the difference in my stomach either, even once she engaged. It was life as usual.

Now that I'm expecting DS (33 weeks), I'm not sure what it is I'm feeling right now. Whenever I stand there is insane pressure 'down there'. It isn't painful really, its just uncomfortable. I can't stand for more than 10 min without it being too uncomfortable to continue and have to sit.

It wasn't like this when I went to bed last night, and I don't feel like I look like my stomach has dropped a lot (maybe a little - I wasn't really checking myself out in the mirror yesterday lol) but the only thing I can think is that maybe he is engaged or at least starting to.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts on what might be causing this feeling and any suggestions on how to relieve the pressure?

  • My Dr has said for the last several weeks to expect loads more pressure with this second pregnancy than the first. I was same as you, never knew when things changed with my first. Your body knows what's going on and relaxes faster typically second time around. I'm 35 weeks and I will say the last week or so mine has been better (and baby is transverse) so I definitely think there is a correlation with his position....

  • i get these shooting pains sometimes to the point where i have to stop walking if i am standing or get up if i am sitting. in particular they seem to be worst when i get up from a seated position (especially from sitting on the toilet!!). i asked my doc (i am a ftm) and she said it's pressure on the cervix and nothing to worry about. they also started around week 33, not sure when little one turned head-down but it definitely could be correlated. the pains come and go, though. i have gotten used to it at 36 weeks.
  • With my first pregnancy I didn't have as much pressure or pain, this time it started a lot sooner, and it's a lot more intense.
