I think it was specifically cucumbers from Mexico so I thought I'd just stay away from buying those for a while. Trader Joes lists where the produce comes from on their packages, so that's a great place to buy from if you have one close.

Yep, you are correct. Just from Mexico. I wish we had a Trader Joes close. The closest one to us is about 2.5 hours away.
If you look at the small labels on produce in the grocery stores (with like a 4 or 5 digit code on it) most of them actually list where the produce comes from in tiny letters.

That stinks, TJ's is awesome! We finally moved to a town that has a couple, and Whole Foods. I was so excited haha. Now I just go broke faster when grocery shopping.

Haha that's how I imagine it would be if we had one close. We don't even have a whole foods. There is a local food coop that I imagine is similar but it's soooo expensive. Like 3x that of our local regular grocery store.
If you have farmers markets you could try there for your produce instead of the store- everything from a market has to be locally grown. At least those are the rules here
Farmers markets are what I'm lacking here in AZ- there are a few, but not much produce besides peppers. I really miss that about California- always had amazing ones!!
We have our own garden in the summer time so I haven't bought veggies for the past 3 months or so which has been awesome. I hate it when I have to start buying store vegetables again. They just don't taste the same.
Kroger have us a notification on our receipt yesterday that we bought some of the listeria cheese. Luckily I didn't eat much of it and will be returning it for a refund today!

That's a good idea to put it on the receipt! I've heard that there's been quite a bit more cucumbers recalled again now too.
