Water breaking nerves!!

I'm 36 weeks and still working. I'm a teacher and the kids come back on Wednesday. I'm so nervous about my water breaking at work!!! Anyone else nervous?!?

I will face this eventually. If it happens it happens. I plan on having an emergency change of clothes and a whole lot of heavy duty pads on hand. You never know!

It's unlikely. And if it does break while you're at work, it will probably be just a trickle of fluid, or you'll feel wet and wonder if you peed your pants. Nothing that students will notice.

The whole gush of water breaking is really dramatized in the movies and doesn't happen like that all that often.

I'm in the same boat, but I have decided that it is what it is (there is no preventing it if it is going to happen). I bought large pads and am planning on brining extra clothes to keep at school just in case!

I've been told it's not as crazy much water as you think most of the time. Although I have really high fluid levels due to GD right now. And my doctor said I should sit on a 5 gallon bucket until mine breaks, because I have so much excess fluid. = / Now terrified of it breaking in public...

I have been stressing about this like crazy! I work with mostly male soldiers there are two other females there but the majority are men. Can you just imagine how a group of these army men are going to react if I just have to be like "welp my water broke guys gotta go. Can you clean that up?"

With both of my previous pregnancies my water has broken. With the first at 39w6d it was a huge gush in the middle of the night. I kind of felt a pop and got up. I was only half awake so it took me a minute in the bathroom to realize it was probably my water breaking. It just kept coming and I was uncomfortable getting to the hospital in wet pants, but it wasn't immediately obvious to everyone else because the admitting nurse asked me to sit down in her cloth chair until I explained it would get all wet.

With my second it was only a small leak at 40 weeks. I wasn't even sure if it was actually broken, but did the whole lay down then get back up and see if there is a gush. I was totally able to manage that with a pad for the hour long drive to the hospital, my pants didn't even get wet.

I've been told I am not the norm and most have their water break after their contractions start in the hospital, but I wanted to tell you about my experience so you had some real life examples. As long as you have someone who could come cover your class in short order you should be fine even if it broke in a huge gush like my first. I was still able to get out of bed (not easy at full term) and to the bathroom.

My water broke at work while assessing a patient! It wasn't too much flow but I heard a pop and knew immediately that's what it was even though I was only 29 weeks. Luckily I was wearing black pants and nobody could tell so I just excused myself and went home. This time around I plan to carry a towel in my car and wear dark pants everyday!!

My water broke at home with my second pregnancy. I was sleep on the couch and jerked away and knew something was different. I stood up and literally did have a gush of fluid. Left a trail from the couch to our restroom and had to sit on towels on the way to the hospital. 3 hours later I was holding my baby. The weird thing was I had had no contractions or any other signs of labor(didn't even find out when I lost mucus plug) before it happened...I was only 37wks so I was totally unprepared for it. I'm getting nervous about going away etc since I will be 37 wks on Thursday....I'm hoping for a trickle this time around!
Everyone is different but mine did come in a giant gush last pregnancy; not just a trickle...

I had a full out total gush of fluid at 3 am ! I felt the pop and jumped out of bed and it wouldn't stop coming !!

The odds of our water breaking as the first sign of labor are not significant enough to be too fearful that you'll need a mop ready in the front of the room. My athletes are more concerned that my water is going to break on the volleyball court. Of course, they're all 14-18-year-old girls and the whole pregnancy thing is fascinating but totally "weird" to them. This is my second and while my water didn't break on its own with my first, I am fully prepared for anything to happen. I'd prefer that it doesn't happen in a publicly obvious manner, but I've kind of given up on trying to control that part of this experience

I trust that it probably won't break spontaneously, but if it does, I'll figure it out!

My water broke with a big gush with my first pregnancy. I needed to pee so I started to roll out of bed. When I rolled over, I felt a gush and thought I peed my pants. I went to the bathroom and then got back in bed. When I rolled over to get comfy again, I had another huge gush and then I knew it was my water and not me peering the bed again! Lol about a half our later, contractions started coming in hard. I woke my hubby up and 7 hours later we had two beautiful baby boys

Yes! My husband is too! It's part of the reason I'll be taking off on leave a week before my EDD so that I can be home and he can be right around the corner. I work over an hour away from the hospital so we would REALLY prefer me to not have my water break there!

The gush is real people! lol

I felt the pop and everything gushed, and then I continually leaked. It happens, but is rare! If it makes you feel any better I have heard the chances of it happening are higher at night!

My water broke while I was walking my dog and talking to our neighbors. It was like I was peeing myself and it just kept trickling.

I am really worried about this too...I just get embarrassed very easily. I talked to my doc (half serious/half jokingly) about how I'm paranoid that my water will break in work or in public and she was kinda like....yep, it could happen! Didn't really put my mind at ease, lol. I was hoping she would say something like, "it doesn't happen that often." Nope. Apparently it does. All can think about is that scene in the SATC movie where Charlotte sees Big in the restaurant and her water breaks on the sidewalk. I can only hope if it happens, it's outdoors, or in an area that doesn't need to be professionally cleaned!

At my childbirth class they said only like 10% of moms have their water break before contractions begin. Sounds like most of the time you will get some warning before it happens. I also know many women who have had to have their waters broken by the doctor at the hospital.
