Headaches at 31 weeks

anyone else having headaches again in 3rd trimester like we experienced in the first? I'm 31week 1 day. Not sure what is going on, but I've had one off and on for 3 days now. I've checked my blood pressure, and it has been mostly normal. Just curious if anyone else is dealing with this as well.

Re: Headaches at 31 weeks

  • I've had some the last couple of days. I'm in the third trimester, but just barely, at 28+2.

  • I have migraines and am sensitive to light and sound. They say the morning sickness is a first trimester thing but mine never went away.
    Do unto others.
  • Water, water, water!
  • I have had headaches the whole time. Same thing when I was pregnant with DS. For me it is just part of the fun of being pregnant.

  • What about blood sugar. Maybe try a candy bar (as long as you can if you're GD you have to calculate that in). I sometimes get headaches where I just need sugar.
  • Im always prone to headaches, have been for as long as I remember. Drinking extra water usually helps, if that doesnt touch it then a couple pf tylenol will usually kick it. I get migraines too, so the trouble i have is recognising whether its a regular headache or a migraine soon enough that im not laid out for the day. Im lucky in that for me migraines tend to respond to caffeine, so a big glass of slightly flat diet coke usually settles my nausea and calms my headache.

I'm 30 weeks and I am just now starting to get migraines. I've had two pretty bad ones within 4 days. I usually start seeing spots before the migraine comes on. I'm not really sure why I am having them now. I drink more water than I used to and still get them. The only thing that seems to help is Tylenol, a cold coke and laying down in a dark room. I see my OB on Friday so I am definitely going to talk to her about it.
  • If they don't go away with Tylenol it warrants a call to the OB even if the BP has been okay. You can still have protein in your urine and other pre-E symptoms before your BP shoots up.
  • My go to remedies to placate a headache (in this order) are medicate it, water it, feed it, then add caffeine.  If those don't work I'll add a cold compress to the back of my neck and go to a dark quiet room.  If that's still not working, enough time has usually passed by then to re-medicate.  Keep hydrating while doing the other things if possible.  Massaging your temples may help too.

I've found stopping a migraine/headache early is the key.  If I don't kill it when it's small it can grow into a monster that lasts for hours sometimes days.
If there's something strange underneath the hood.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  If there's something weird and it don't look good.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  Immediately.  If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor.  It's for your health and your child's.

  • 29w4d and I woke up this morning with one  :((
  • Out of 4 days I have had a headache 3 days.

Pretty normal in pregnancy however if you have any other issues or it does not go away with meds, water, compress then call OB
