Transfer decision: how much time and info were you given?

We just did our first IVF transfer on Friday and I found it very bizarre, in terms of communication. The clinic's website (SG) and handout instructions make it seem like the doctor and embryologist will sit down and discuss in great detail how many/which embryos to transfer. However, on the morning of our Day 5 transfer we were brought straight into the procedure room by the nurse who instructed me to get undressed. We hadn't heard anything since Day 3 so we thought we would talk to the doctor first, not go straight into the procedure room. The nurse wasn't giving any straight answers either. The doctor finally came in and told us we only had two embryos to choose from so maybe they thought it was just a choice of 1 or 2. But still, it seemed odd to me, to be getting this info in the procedure room. Is that strange or is that how other clinics deliver this kind of info?

Nope. I received a call every day leading up to my 5dt. So I knew before the procedure what was going on. As the procedure began they put my blasts on a screen for us to see too. Sounds odd to me. Good luck on getting your BFP.

Our clinic was very open with communication. We got update phone calls on all embryos and discussed what each were graded and given their expertise on how many to transfer. When we arrived for the transfer, we spoke with the doctor several times and the embryologist came in to discuss the embryos we decided to transfer. She gave us a photo and even came in during the transfer to talk to us again and pulled up the actual embryos on a monitor for us to check the name on their dish one last time.
I hope you get your bfp, but if by some terrible twist of fate, it doesn't work, I would suggest making an appt and asking for more communication with them.

That does sound odd. We got a call everyday to update us on how our embies were growing. Everything had been discussed/decided before I went in for the transfer. How many did you end up transferring?

We transferred two at day 5, one growing normally and the other was significantly delayed. It was also a full moon that day and i think half the staff was out on vacation (including my RE), so maybe the communication breakdown was just a fluke?
