Should/can I say something to my DH'S boss?

My husband and I work together so I know his boss quite well. Well we were told my husband wouldn't have to travel starting in September until after the baby was born and maybe even then some. Well we just got his schedule and they have him going out of town each Monday until the baby is born. I'm freaking out because now he'll be in another state 2-3 hours away. I realize that it's just for the day but still. It freaks me out that they are having him be away once a week. Am I over reacting? Should I have my husband talk to his boss? Is it too much for me to talk to his boss?

  • Under no circumstances should you talk to his boss about his schedule. That's asking for future disasters. If it is that upsetting I would have your husband talk to him about it. However I agree with PP that labor is more often than not a slow process and 2-3 hours away isn't that long. I wouldn't be concerned. Do what is best for you and your family :)
  • Definitely something your husband needs to be bringing up, not you. 2-3 hours isn't that far (assuming it's a drive?) in the worst case scenario, but maybe his boss wasn't thinking when the schedule was made.
  • Do not talk to his boss. How would you feel if he went to your boss about your schedule. I get the urge to stand up for your man, but this is asking for trouble. Ask him to talk to his boss, it was probably an oversight, but regardless of the outcome you are probably going to have enough time for him to get home. Hopefully they are willing to at least rejigger the schedule for the couple of weeks before you are due.

  • Thanks ladies! Sometimes it feels like family at work so it's easy for lines to be passed over. Thank you for the advice. I'll leave it up to DH to make the call if he wants to bubble it up or not.
