Am I having a MC or menstrual bleeding?

DH and I have been TTC; we have had 1 MC and 1 successful birth.  I KNEW I was pregnant because I had the SAME symptoms when pregnant with my LO: extremely tired, (dry) nausea, constipated, and **felt great discomfort when wearing pants**).  I have NOT missed a menstrual cycle yet, so, as expected, the pregnancy test was negative. Three days before my cycle was due, I began bleeding... it's increased significantly.  (I began having light cramping, as well).

I know this sounds like normal menstruation, but FOR ME, that's not normal.  1)My cycle NEVER EVER comes early. 2)I get DEBILITATING cramps.

With my MC, I had light then heavy bleeding and light cramping. (I do not recall the amount of clotting, though.)

-->Currently the blood clots are light/nonexistent and my pregnancy symptoms have just about vanished.

What do you think? Am I just being psychosomatic?? I'm planning to take a pregnancy test later today, just in case.

Thanks!

  • Loading the player...
  • You are regular until you are not.  Your cycle (and your period can change for any reason).  Are you under the care of an RE?  How long have you been trying?
  • Thanks for your response, Kgbbsc7! Regular versus NOT... I know. (sigh!) Two months ago, my cycle arrived 4 days late.  That time and this, are the only times in YEARS it was irregular.

I am under no one's care at the moment.  (I'm not sure what RE stands for.)

Sounds crazy, but my DH is on medication that prevents him from producing sperm. In theory, he has to be off of it for three solid months in order to have active/viable sperm.  We are in month 4.  With our successful baby, we were able to conceive at month 3.

  • You may want to try the TTGP board. Most of these ladies here have been trying for over a year and are under the care of a specialist/RE to get pregnant. Most have an official diagnosis of IF.
  • I think in the absence of a positive preg test, you can't diagnose bleeding as a MC, although technically you could have been too early to tell by an HPT, this is what I've been told by my OB/GYN. It is just considered a menstrual cycle.
