We considered Olivia but it's incredibly popular now. If you're like us and don't want an uber popular name that half the girls in her class will have Id avoid the name, as pretty as it is.
I hate all girl names that start with the Mic sound. I think they sound like they belong to a silly girl with no substance. My husband loves them, though, and he has much better taste than me.
And @mg137 I thought the same thing about the popularity of the name Olivia. It's so pretty but I don't want a million in her classes! I think I'm getting closer to choosing Abigail
I picked Olivia. Michaela pronounced how you specified sounds like someone with an extremely heavy country accent trying to pronounce it the other way. I never even knew there was another option on how to pronounce michaela other than mick-ay-la
The spelling you chose for Michaela is actually pronounced Makayla. If you truly like the name mick-eye-la you might want to consider a different spelling to avoid a lifetime of confusion on your child's behalf.
I don't know where everyone else is from but the only way to spell Michaela with that pronunciation is how I listed it! Regardless, there's too much confusion and I've officially booted it off the list. Thanks for all of your opinions, it definitely helps
Bummer. I love the sound of Michaela Rosr, the way you pronounce it. I'm trying to think of other ways you could potentially spell it, but they look a bit odd... McKyla? I don't know, but it's my favorite on your list, nixed or not
Makayla was actually a baby name I considered way before hedging pregnant. My cousin just had her baby and that's what she named her. I've never seen or heard it pronounced like that.

I love Abigail
I actually really like Michaela Rose.

It is popular, but according to Time (https://time.com/93911/baby-name-predictor/) it had its peak in 2013 and is on the way down in popularity now. It peaked at 1%, which for perspective is fairly low compared to Jennifer's peak of over 4% in 1974. I think the popularity of any name depends on your location as well (https://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/state/index.html).
I love love love Abigail.
