I had a slightly elevated AFP with no neural tube defects. Now they want to monitor though out my pregnancy. one association with high AFP is still birth and other scary problems
I do. Although we opted out of the amnio our ultrasounds shows no noticeable Ontd. It can mean many different things. I honestly wouldn't stress it. I can understand being worried, but it just means you will be monitored closer. They keep an eye on placenta function/ baby growth because of an elevated afp can sometimes be an indicator of those issues.
I was high risk before the elevated AFP. I have several other risk factors for still birth, IUGR, and other complications.
I go in tomorrow for a growth scan. I'm seen about every 2 to 3 wks by my MFM for various different test and reason, but it's not solely for the high AFP.
Re: Anyone else have a slightly elevated AFP with no neural tube defects?
when do you have to go in for the next monitoring?
