CVS and Thalassemia

Hi all expectant mums!

I'm in my 13th week now and having a cvs tomorrow to test whether bubs has got a severe form of thalasessmia. Just got the call today that the appointment was going to be tomorrow so I haven't had much time to prepare mentally. My husband and I are from Malaysia but living in New Zealand and we are both carriers of the alpha Thalassemia gene meaning that each time we have a child, we have a 50% chance that bubs will carry a fatal form of Thalassemia and will be still born or die soon after birth or be severely anaemic for the rest of their lives.

I am worried out of my mind as the prospect of facing this every time we want to get pregnant is daunting. My husband has been amazingly supportive and positive (despite being a doctor and rather a logical person!)

All I can ask for is your thoughts/encouragement and prayers for us and bubs as we are already very much attached to him/her and can't wait to be parents. This news and its implications on our future has further made us realise that we need God more than ever and He is faithful throughout it all.

Thanks everyone and all the best for you and your beautiful babies :)
