Baby registry - 'must have' and 'can skip' ideas

Sorry if this question has already been asked. Can you please tell me what items are must haves and what I can skip when registering for baby shower? I'm a FTM and clueless. Thank you!

    Check out Lucie's List. She goes category by category (what you need for sleeping, what you need for feeding, etc.) and lists what you really need, with recommendations. I used her site religiously when I was registering.
