Secondary IF

PCOS and IVF

Hi, I have been TTC for two years now. Last year my RE diagnoses me with PCOS. I was clomid, Femura, three rounds of IUI. My option now is IVF. I'm anxious. I'm 30 my insurance covers it the only thing I need to pay is $800 for freezing of the eggs. I'm really nervous about the process. Any advice?

Welcome. It's normal to be anxious. It sounds like you're really early in the process so if you haven't looked at RESOLVE's website I would check that out to find out more about IVF and everything that goes into it (https://www.resolve.org/family-building-options/ivf-art/). The biggest advice I would give is to be your own advocate. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor and nurse questions. Also, I'm super jealous that your insurance actually covers IVF. Most don't, as my bank account can attest.  Good luck!

  • I have pcos and went through ivf. The process is a long nerve wracking one but worth it in the end. First cycle and I am 26 weeks with 2 boys.

My suggestion is ask questions, any and all. The nurses are almost always amazing and they will not talk down to you. They expect the questions and nerves they see it every day. Even if you feel that you should already know something or they already told you if you are feeling uneasy or unsure just say something. Another thing is follow directions to the letter. A lot of times the meds are time sensitive so be sure you follow everything they tell you to do.

Does your clinic do fresh cycles or fet? The clinic I went do ONLY does fet and I am very glad because I feel the time between retrieval and transfer gave my body time to relax and recover from the crazy shots for growing the follicles.

All in all good luck and don't stress. Take it easy and don't drive yourself nuts with testing at home in the 2 week wait.
