    2. I'm doing Weight Watchers

    3. I have lost 10 pounds in 4 months. That is super slow, but I've had my ups and downs. It took me about 5 weeks to lose anything because I have a very stubborn body that tries to hold onto every pound. Grrrr. I haven't followed my plan like I should this week, so it looks like no weight loss just a maintain week for me. That's better than gaining though, so I'll take it.

    4. Share a recipe for this week.

Our leader recommended this Chicken Tortilla Soup recipe. It looks good, and I love slow cooker meals in the fall. Plus they are easy which is important for working moms.

I would probably just crumble a few regular tortilla chips on top, and I would buy rotisserie chicken to shred or even put canned chicken in it.

I'm terrible at this one. I just give in. Help me out on this ladies.

    2. Slimgenics, repair week this week - no starches, decreased fruit and veggies to shock the system.

    3. I've been plateaued for several weeks.  I think all the meds really screwed up my system, so I'm keeping it natural this cycle.  Total loss has been 34 pounds (at my most, I was 36 pounds).  I'm hoping this repair week will get me back on track.  I have 13 pounds to lose to qualify for IVF in November.  Fingers crossed.  After my trip to Chicago, where we walked so much, I'm hoping to carry that over into starting a more aggressive exercise plan.  Probably just walking, but it's better than nothing! :)

    4. One of the ladies at Slimgenics recommended jicama fries, so after this week of no starch, I'm going to try them.  Just peel and slice the jicama, toss in a little olive oil and seasoning, and bake at 400 for 25-30 minutes, flip once halfway through.  She claims her kids don't realize they aren't french fries.  We'll see about that!!

    5. This is also hard for me, but the more I've stayed away from sweets (my one true love - besides my hubby), the easier it's been.  I've been pinning recipes for energy bites, which seem like they may satisfy some cravings while giving me more protein.

  • Hello ladies!  I've always been heavy, and on Weight watchers for years!  Still not at my goal weight, but 65lbs down from my heavest, so I keep trying!

    1. Amanda Marie from MD

    2. Weight Watchers!

    3. I got way off track last year.  I got married and moved, and couldn't find a meeting I like.  My dear friend and WW leader just got tow new meetings on Saturday mornings much closer to me so I'm back to her sessions and back to being on plan!

    4. This is what I've been having for lunch this week:
    https://damndelicious.net/2014/06/13/one-pot-zucchini-mushroom-pasta/

Except that I reduced the pasta from one pound to 7.5 ounces and added some chicken.

    5. If you are craving salt, you're probably dehydrated - so have some liquids first.
For sweet, usually some juicy fruit like watermelon works for me!
  • Wow. Congrats on the 65 pounds @amimhof . That's great! I'm still working on my first 10.
  • Going to the gym has made me super hungry, so I've only lost 1 pound in 3 weeks.  But I know I'm adding muscle and improving my stamina, so I'm okay with that. When I've worked out in the past, the weight seemed to start coming off after a few months.  I only have about 10 pounds to lose, so I can be patient. I'm going to the gym 6 days a week, so no matter what the scale says, I'm doing good.

I wish I had this laid back, "it'll happen soon enough" optimistic attitude about TTC.

  • @Carrieandroy - how long have you been going to the gym?  The lack of weight loss could be water retention.  When you change workouts or up your intensity, you work, and sometimes damage (not seriously - don't worry) your muscles.  Your body will need more water to help heal the muscles.  Once you adapt to the new rotuine, your body adapts and stops holding on to the water.

I know when I've changed or upped my workouts in the past, I'd go a few weeks and only lose a little, or sometimes gain weight.  Then all of the sudden I drop a bunch at once.

  • 1. Your screen name or first name and where you are from.

    2. What's your plan for weight loss of healthier eating? Are you following a certain diet?

I made it through the 6-week diet my acupuncture recommended. It was absolutely no carbs, fruits or sweets and increased protein/meats. It was soooo rough. And now she wants me to continue with the diet but I can add in a few things, like some low-glycemic fruits and a sweet potato here and there. I really miss brown rice and quinoa (regular staples of my previous diet). And I'm starting to feel stuck for dinner ideas. I'm tired of chicken and veggies....

    3. Update us on your progress.

All of this is for my PCOS and to control my blood sugar levels. I think it's working since I ovulated early last cycle and it looks like I'm O'ing again this cycle (although not as early). Weight loss isn't an issue for me but I experience many other side effects from PCOS (mood swings, ovarian pain, facial hair, etc.). So far most of these symptoms seem to be improving from being on the diet so that's why I'm sticking with it (for now).

    4. Share a recipe for this week.

I made this Moroccan Carrot Lentil soup last week and it was so delicious. It's a tad on the sweet side (due to the carrots) but is low carb and vegetarian.

    5. What is one thing you do to beat a sweet or salty craving? Tips? Healthy alternatives that still satisfy?

Oh man. I really miss giving in to my sweet and salty cravings! Since I've been on this crazy diet, I've resorted to those salty seaweed snacks or olives when I have a bad salt craving. As far as sweets, I've literally been banging my head against the wall. I've been banned from ALL SWEETS and it's been torture. If the craving was really bad, I'd drink a glass of unsweetened almond milk. It's not really sweet, but it somehow helped with the craving. Now I'm allowed a little bit of fruit so I'll definitely be having some apples and almond butter - an all time favorite!

  • @emsmama15 - we made the jicama fries tonight! H actually read it's better to steam the jicama first otherwise they are really crunchy when you bake them. He threw in a bunch of spices and they were incredibly awesome! Thanks for sharing!

  • @amimhof, just 3 weeks. Water retention would explain it. I was just telling thistle that I'm bloated, which is unusual for me right after AF. And I usually drop a lot of weight at once maybe 2-3 months after I start working out.

  • @jilligan14, thanks for that tip.  I picked up a bunch of fresh jicama at the farmer's market this morning, so I'm planning to make them this week.  I'm currently on "repair week" so no starches till Monday.  I may celebrate with jicama fries and the turkey burgers I posted last week (or the week before).  :)

I'm day one of going back to a ketogenic/paleo-like diet.
I drank homemade chicken bone broth this morning and ate a handful of heirloom cherry tomatoes.

I've been eating carbs and sugar for like 3 days straight, so....yea...time to get back into a healthier routine.

Here's the recipe I use for bone broth...(it's important to use organic meat.)
