N-acetyl cysteine

Has anyone researched or taken N-acetyl cysteine to prevent loss or for other reasons? I can't remember if I've seen it in the weekly updates. I'm curious about other experiences with this and might try it since I'm not already taking enough supplements... #-o

Re: N-acetyl cysteine

  • I've taken glutathione for a really long time a few years ago. NAC is its precursor if I'm not mistaken. I took it for its antioxidant properties and to detox from heavy metals. I think it's great! Good to know that it's also a fertility aid.

  • @BulgariHeart - I will look into glutathione before I order NAC. Thanks!

@thistle8677 - Please let me know if you hear/read anything else about it.

I am wondering if our new RE will have me stop all of the supplements next month. I found the info on NAC because I was researching stinging nettles as a natural form of Mucinex. I just started taking nettles CD1 up to ovulation and I wanted to make sure it was safe with everything else I'm taking (it is, in any amount actually). But NAC may be even better for loosening mucus (at least in the lungs, hopefully everywhere).
  • @MntnGirl the LMT that did my maya abdominal massage recommended a tea for toning the uterus and regulating cycles. It calls for:
    2oz. Calendula
    1oz. Nettles
    1oz. Yarrow

The confusing thing for me was that I don't know if the calendula and yarrow is good to take after ovulation, because it's not meant for pregnancy...it's to regulate your cycle.
    Nettles however, are completely safe.

  • I bought and started taking NAC. Waiting for it to work. :-w I use a preconception tea that claims to do the same as the tea you mention above, but it doesn't have calendula or yarrow.
  • I thought about this thread yesterday when I went to pick up some supplements from my supplement "guru" friend and she was mentioning a woman who's having glutathione injections. Didn't know that was even available!

My LMT also recommended a herbal blend to strengthen the uterus. She recommended two companies, one of which I ordered from. It's called Mountain Rose Herbs. They make a blend called Fecundi Tea, if you ladies want to check it out.
I think they take custom orders as well.

  • I've ordered from Mountain Rose Herbs in the past (years ago, before ttc) and they have some very nice, high-quality teas! I'll have to check out this Fecundi tea!
